I'm a university professor and a river scientist.  If you watch the discovery HD channel, you might see me on a tv documentary about Niagara Falls that has been in reruns since March-  I'm the nerd explaining what happens to people when they go over it in a barrel- splat.   As my little photo to the left shows, I develop new theory and methods that aid in restoring rivers to a healthy condition for fish, bugs, and other organisms. The photo shows one of my designs being built.

Gotta pick a career you love.

Until last fall my official title was Engineer III Software, and I was the product software lead.  Now it's Engineer III Systems.  I work on inertial guidance systems.

After a long and interesting career in what was once "electronics," and then became "Computer Science & Engineering" - the latter few decades here in Si-Valley - I am now semi-retired!

The "semi-" is because I can't seem to sit still (except to play Halo and other on-line games!), and still do: business consulting, computer maintenance and repair, and I teach English, Math, Science and Technology part-time at a local independent study public K-12 school.

I install and maintain high speed traffic management schemes on highways, install new street lighting schemes, electrician, heavy goods vehicle driver, stat man for my partners job, i assistst with community projects and look after my partner (she a senior manager in adult education and works more hours than me). In my spare time i mainly sleep and have a few races.
