Big No No for Big Z
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:00:08 PM »
Okay all you haters and non believers.  If you thought that the Cubs were in trouble when the word of Carlos Zambrano and Rich Harden having arm problems came across the news wire.  Think again!  Rich Harden came out on Thursday and pitched a heck of a game in the Cubs 3 - 2 win over St. Louis.   And now, with all questions on if Big Z would come back from from tendinitous in his throwing shoulder and be as dominate as he was early in the season.  Well, I've got two words for you!  NO HITTER!  That's right!  Carlos Zambrano no hit one of the hottest teams in baseball since the allstar break.  The Houston Astros!  36 years since the last Cubs no hitter and it couldn't have come at a better time.  And I got to see the final three outs.  This moment will be etched in my memories for the rest of my life.  Now there's just one more thing left to do.  Win that World Series Championship.  And with the pitching as it is and the offense getting back on track.  I have no doubt that we have a very good shot at it this year.

Cubs all the way Baby!   :yesyes:

So says the Samurai!   :toughguy:
Thanks to Inferno and Blitz for the sigs!

Seeing as how the Brewers totally fell apart and wont make the playoffs (second time in two years), the only thing I have left is to root for the Cubs to get swept in their first playoff series.

Like I said Brewers will make the wild card...and that's it

Looks like my predictions are holding up so far...

AL teams:                                                                NL teams:
East: Rays                                                                East: Phillies
Central: White Sox                                                  Central: Cubs
West: Angels                                                           West: Dodgers
Wild Card: Red Sox (the yankees are                     Wild Card: Brewers (CC will help just enough
too down at this point to make it up,                      to get them to the playoffs, but thats it)
sorry guys, GIAMBI STACHE FTW)

Rays def. Angels                                                       Cubs def. Dodgers
Red Sox def. White Sox                                           Phillies def. Brewers

Rays def. Red Sox                                                    Cubs def. Phillies

                                   Cubs def Rays in 6

Now, granted, the playoff games are subject to change depending on who plays who in the first round, but my division predictions are going just fine. The only thing I am worried about at this point is the Brewers who are starting to scare me a little, and the Phillies who, having just recently taken the lead back from the Mets (as of Tuesday) should stay there. Most of the other divisions are pretty much set (still keeping an eye on that Rays-Red Sox race) so we'll see if my predictions hold up

Thank you Tanger!
