Do you mean your video is going all nuts?

Try seeing if the A/V cable is a bit loose on the PS2's end. This can be done by pushing it in. If it fixes itself, ta-da! If not, no idea.

I've got a PS2 which has issues with colour disappearing (due to either the TV, or the cable).

A bit of a wriggle of the cable where it enters the pre-plug bit of plastic seems to fix it.

BTW: What kind of cables do you use (RCA, S-Video, Component or the UHF/VHF converter)?

Are the colours still messed up when you try and watch TV? Or does it only happen when you play the PS2?

If it's only the PS2 that's causing it, then it more or less eliminates the TV as the possible problem.

My guess is it's the cables. Be sure to check them for any breaks or scratches, and if you happen to have the same cables elsewhere, try those just to see.

PS2 on one channel (have two tuned to it)

Anyway, it's not my problem that's the original one :D

If you give up, and all of us give up (I do!), then send it to Sony, they'll still fix it if you pay them.
