Can give this a try as well.
http://sales.webroot.com/downloads/registered/links/en/SpySweeperRegSetup_1.exe
Spysweeper installer.

Serial: Pls dont post that here
I purchased this copy of spysweeper, free to anyone that wants it.

If you can get it installed,  skip any updates and run a full sweep, it will most likely find something on the first try. After the scan and files are quarentened, update the program and run another scan.

I had to do this 3-4x on a computer here at work, had all kinds of pesky viruses.
Spysweeper gets rid of 'most' problems including rootkits, but it doesnt get rid of everything, still a good thing to try.

Pls dont post a Serial #'s here
If you need to know why pls pm a Officer   Batman

No, it's just SUGGESTING that you use the "updater application."

Do whatever you have to do to make it NOT DO/SKIP THE UPDATE.
E.g. UNcheck a box before selecting "Next;" Simply select "Next" WITHOUT selecting whatever it is that makes it do an update, etc....

Oi, I get what you're saying but the way you worded it confuses me.

Also when I click "Check for Problems" it clearly says "You need to install the detection updates first by using the intergrated update or the manual updater." So I'm at a loss here.

Edit:

Ok, quck question here.

What exactly is the difference between actually deleting an infected file as opposed to just moving it to the chest (still confused as to what this means exactly...) and/or quaranteening the file.

tghe reason I ask is because I ran a scan using avast! upon startup and there were 5 or 6 infected files in the WINDOWS\system32 area of the computer with a virus classified as "Win32:Trojan-gen {other}". the files in question were .dll files, and knowing that you shouldn't delete them, let alone MESS with them (believe me I've done this several times before, I don't intend on doing it again) I just moved them to chest.

There were a total of 9 objects found in this scan.

Delete them.

It will reboot and run itself before Windows loads and trash them, then reboot Windows and you can run it again....

Alright, I've decided to take it in and get it cleaned/wiped ect ect so it shouldn't matter anymore. Thanks for all the advice anyway.
