Graphics Card Issues
« on: July 15, 2009, 10:41:29 AM »
Well I just purchased  a new graphics card for my comp Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT.... I finally got it tweaked so that it is working awesome.  However, I have been having a problem.  When my computer goes to standby/sleep and I come back and jiggle the mouse to wake it up, the display pops up and is blurry/off centered.  So i typically go into display settings and select a different resolution and it clears up.  Any ideas why it is doing this/how I can fix it?

same problem with a Nvidia 8400 GS running on Vista SP2. I'm also getting some very laggy video playback preformance when I use fullscreen. Not sure of this is the CPU or card though, the CPU runs about 65% in the resource monitor when I'm watching in fullscreen. My old PC with 128mb integrated graphics played back batter than this one.

team sig by Slayton, thanks a ton!

I think you're looking in the wrong place.

That's happening because your MONITOR forgets its settings when it loses its signal.

So when you're "resetting your graphics card" you're actually resetting the monitor's forgotten settings.

I'll bet that its NOT an Energy Star rated monitor, too....

(I.e. Your NEW graphics card actually expects your monitor to be Energy Star compliant - and to remember its settings when powered off - whereas your prior graphics card did not fully shut down the monitor....)

I'll bet if you go find DRIVERS for your monitor* it will fix the problem.

Well thanks, but to me it seems more like the way Bill Murray stated it in Ground Hog Day!
