They are surrounded by action like driving to the mall, etc.

I thought GI Joe was called an action figure because you could move his arms and legs into fun positions, like hugging teddy bears and drinking hot tea.

no bc Barbie is a specific brand of doll while action figures are an unspecific/general doll type... its like asking if band is a sport. it is and it isn't.

i preferred my Transformers

Just because you are winning doesn't make you right..

You cant take a barbie right out of the box and call it a Action Figure, because of the way you get it. you get it and she is all dressed up. You get a G.I. Joe out of the box and he is all muscles and guns and stuff.. You automatically assume that he is a Action Figure. That is because you assume from the packaging you get, that he is an Action Figure. You get a Barbie in a box you get a couple of mirrors and beauty whatevers... So they are both DOLLS.. but they branch off into smaller categories.  Beauty, Action Figures, and more..  Barbie is Beauty, G.I. Joe is action..   You understand anybody???

( ibet that this ahs been said but oh well!)

They are the same, because they are both dolls! Here's the definition according to Dictionary.com (it's really useful for this stuff)
- a small figure representing a baby or other human being, esp. for use as a child's toy.

The question is are they same. And, according to this definition they are.  Let me suppose this:

                    Dolls
                    /               \
             Barbies       Action figures

They're both  in the family of dolls. They may have some different charactertistics, but are still classified as dolls.

Thank you very much Mderms for the amazing sig!!!! YAY!!!                       Big thanks to Blitz!!!! YAYZ!!

Thanks!

That is a good point. But then by your logic, Humans and Sharks are alike.. Because they both branch off the topic of animal...  See the problem here?

or.. Beds and work-out benches are the same. Because they branch of non-living objects....

you understand this?

honestly whats wrong with just calling them dolls... i do agree with the fact that there are action figures and there are barbie and there is a difference... but im just saying, it would be a whole lot easier if you call them all the same thing
dolls

but humans and sharks are alike since we are both animals. But if you really wanna be split hairs, we have different characteristics, but still share others making us very broadly speaking the same!

And the same goes for beds and bench press tables (or whatever they're called)

So you then agree with me, if we are speaking the same.. Im saying, you cant take a Brand new Barbie and call it a Action Figure. you have to change the characteristics of it.
