A world-famous cat passes away
« on: January 19, 2010, 09:55:37 AM »
Last Thursday, in the English town of Plymouth, Casper the cat died. Headline news this would not be, but for the fact that Casper was a regular passenger on the number 3 bus. So regular that he never had to pay for his ticket and the drivers would stop to pick him up and drop him off again.

Apparently this story has passed across the world and the cat's owners have received tribute from people in the US and Australia.

But that loveable cat, star of one of those very English stories, has passed on.

In the New York Daily this story was reported and a spokesman for First Devon said that,

“In the U.K., people over the age of 65 travel on the bus free. So we worked out that the cat was about 111 years old in cat years, therefore it was fine. He can travel free."

It's sad to hear of this news.

I think what was most awesome about this cat getting the bus is that it queued to get on the bus. So you got, standing in line to get on the bus:

human, human, human, cat, human, human...

Bless that cat. RIP

I have had 25+ cats over my life.  I have had cats that like to dance, that did tricks, that were clowns and would do just about anything.  However, I have never had a cat that would willingly get into a vehicle.

Pretty cool.

A few years back a local stray cat decided to adopt my family. One of the quirks of this cat was it LOVED to get into my car, and curl up on the back window, or on occasion it would jump onto the roof of the car, even tho it had the run of my house. One day i jumped into my car to go some-place, checked the roof that it was clear, and away i went. As i went around the bend in my street, some 40 feet from my front door, i heard a sort of screeching of claws trying madly to gain purchase, and then saw out of the corner of my eye a ginger fur ball flying thru the air. He had got onto the roof of my car when i got in and stayed there! I got out of the car to check him and he was fine. After i got over the initial shock and found that he was ok i could laugh about it ::) I guess it was just as well he got off there, or he would have had a bit longer journey than he intended :)
