FYI it is also required for Brink, recently released by Bethsheda Softworks and Splash Damage. It's a great game if you are into crazy Unreal Tournament Jazz.... but players have roles rather than mindless killing. :)

That and you can tackle enemies by 'sliding' into them by using the crouch key while sprinting. So much fun!

Nrvend is too old. We race in hogs, not wheelchairs.
Exodus.....why is there a cat in my post?

You really have to go to the Steam site to see all the features this gaming system provides....

While I don't make extensive use of it all that much, it's an extremely well-put-together system.

Big Deal Features not mentioned thusfar:

- Support for (many) Mac games as well

- In-game chat system (Oh wait... that's how this all got started!  :embarrassing: )

- Access to all Valve games, servers, technologies, and systems

- ...The preceding of which means the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) system, and

- Source(R) technology & games

P.S. No, I am not affiliated with Steam in any way.  I just think they "did it right."  Unfortunately I get no kickbacks or sales commission for this post....  :'(

I agree Steam is probably the best way to buy games.... So far that I've had it (since 2007) I've never had issues. The best part is that when I want free space I can start up steam and tell it to erase any data for the game I have installed, then when I want to play the game, I can reinstall it in less than an hour without all the redoing the cd key or inserting a cd, I just right click the game I want and click install/play and I'm good to go. If you ever have issues I'd suggest going to the steam website and searching for the issue, you'll fix it right away, like I bought battlefield 2 the complete collection and there is an error where steam encrypts the cd key so the game won't be able to find the cd key properly in which case I couldn't play online for the longest time.
