You have to hold it down for a bit. I did the same thing when I was playing with it. And the more words you get for a word of power sequence the longer you have to hold it down (but becomes more powerful).

You also need to "enable" it (<E> key when selected with list arrow pointer) under "Shouts" in the Magic abilities menu....  ::)

ROFL!

Reminds me of a story...:

I was at a party this one time, and several of us were standing there chatting when another (new) friend joined us and said "Wow. No matter what I do I can't seem to get my new live-in friend's car to go.  Anyone got any ideas?"

Each in turn threw out things such as: "Did you let it warm up?", "When's that last time it had a tune up?", "Can you get it into gear?", and "What sort of sound does it make?"...

To the last question the wanna-be driver answered: "No sound at all."

So I asked them: "Is there gas in the car, and do you have the keys?"

To which they replied: "I don't know. Why? Does that matter?"

 :siderofl:

P.S. 'Never happened, of course, but like all stories, they're better when told in the first person!

On a more realistic note: You Would Be Amazed at the number of times I've gone to help someone with a computer that "won't run" and when I get there I find the 0/1 rocker switch on the PSU is in the OFF position....  ::)

Can be summed up by IT Crowd

"Have you tried turning it on and off again?

and then of course

"Is it plugged in"?

Anyway.... back to Skyrim!

I haven't played it for a few days.... might go back and slay a few dragons :D

Yikes.

I finally had to cave and join a faction/guild/organization, which I've been putting off for a long time. (I've got each and every one of them at the laaast possible stage before it commits me and flags me as a member of something....)

Surprise! I'm a Thief! (However I intend to eventually be a member in ALL such groups in Skyrim, BTW. Next will be The Dark Brotherhood so I can train in Alchemy.)

I had to do it because I needed their higher-level Trainers to get that last bump to 100 for my Sneak and Archery, which I've now done! (Lock-picking(92) and Pick-pocketing(78) are coming along nicely, as well...)

I wanted to find out from others, tho: Was the Thieves Guild/Nocturnal/Nightingales quest line as long for you too? It just seemed to go on and on.  I'm on the part to return the Skeleton Key now and it's kinda getting tedious.  :-\

And while the Nightingale's outfits are cool looking (see below), I find that I've set it aside for the stuff that I was already wearing. (To whit: I find it "more stealthy" if I can one-shot kill one-by-one from stealth with my bow and its buffs than trying to "sneak" in to a group of Falmers and take them down.  ::) )

I love the Nightingale gear.  I used it for awhile until I got boots that gave 30% easier sneak and gloves that gave 30% bow damage.  I still wear the hood and armor though (which I improved to Flawless because it only cost a Void Salts to upgrade it).

yes, the first time around, the thieves guild was very hard mainly because I didn't have the dark brother hood boots that give you Move silently (same effect as the nightingale boots).
btw, to become guildmaster, you have to do enough quests from Delvin and Vex to get special quests from each city (Winterhold, Whiterun, Solitude and Markarth) and if you find it tedious doing master ranked locks like i do, i kept the skeleton key to do the four.

The most frustrating 10 minutes of your life.

Lock-pick skill level 48.
Chest Level: Master
Lockpicks: 1

That was a lot of quicksave/quickloading.

Actually it had some pretty neat stuff in it that made it worthwhile. A scroll, enchanted sword and a set of gauntlets which I think at the time were the set above I was wearing. :)

Sounds like it's not detecting your Graphics Adapter properly then....

It just occurred to me that it hasn't been mentioned yet: You're not trying to play it on a laptop (with it's woefully under-powered/shared - and hence slow) graphics memory are you?...

Did you check it out with Can You Run It?

I'm on a desktop. Graphics card is Radeon HD 5770. I pass the recommended test at Systemrequirementslab for each individual component.
