Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society?

Hi all. So ive just noticed this while scanning through my video manager on Youtube. The classical cover i did, of John Murphy's Sunshine (Adagio in D minor). Has got "Matched 3rd party content" by it, and that Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society has put a copyright claim against it. Your video is still public blah blah

A society, is claiming copyright against my non-profit cover, of a song composed by John Murphy, who from what I can tell has no affiliation with them.

Has anyone ever heard of these guys? Cant find a website or anything conclusive...

Went to their facebook. Every post is about them being a fraud and something about Youtube filing a lawsuit against them. I think it's safe to say they'll be gone.

Well, there ARE companies that could possibly claim money from you for using their music if you don't have the copyright owner's permission, but the MPRCS isn't one of them: as Trael said, it's almost certainly fraud.

If, on the other hand, the PRS, PPL or MCPS get in touch with you to complain, then you might be in trouble...
