Far Cry?
« on: February 26, 2012, 02:39:20 PM »
I was digging out some old games the other day and i came across FarCry so installed it it wouldn't run so i downloaded the official 1.4 patch and great it works perfectly. However in fixing the windows 7 problem the developers have made one massive bug and looking back its one of the reasons i uninstalled it. This bug that the makers created but never  bothered to fix  allows  the AI to not only see but shoot through solid objects be it tents  rocks / buildings / trees / rocks / cars basically everything. However  i checked the other day and there is a unofficial 1.41 patch that fixes this bug however when i down load it and unpack the rar i scanned with kaspersky  and it reported no problems i scanned it with malwarebyts and it flagged up a threat.

So the question is  has anyone else used this  file and is it safe  or bad?

MalwareBytes will flag "cheats" and "questionable mods" to software, such as cracks and the like.  [For instance I have an old example copy of a short program that can extract and/or modify keys for a given game.  This "hip-pocket" program was always flagged by MBAM as a "keygen" virus. (Until I shut it up by Quarantining it.)]

You should Google the "virus" type/name that MBAM displays in red and read up about what folks have said about it.  (Also, if you're on the MBAM forums you can usually read about these there, too.)

In short: MBAM goes a bit beyond just virus scanning....  ::)
