Rusty0's Microphone problem
« on: November 18, 2007, 10:41:16 AM »
Well ive tried and failed

ok the situation: No sounds is being detected from his microphone or any other microphones we try, but he can still hear. We made sure everything was selected for that microphone and made sure nothing was muted. In windows sound recorder no sound is being detected on playback. We tried reinstalling Realtek 97, but no luck there.

so hoping i missed something and its the software not the actual microphone port.

In vent cant hear him, however the sound of others gets echoed back fairly loud.

any suggestions with Realtek 97?

First-off: the echo is because his microphone and/or "mixer" are ENABLED in the "Playback" section of "Volume Control" panel.

Did you go through the tests/steps in this post(Note that the bottom of that post has another section titled "If you're getting unwanted echo" which describes how to check the above....)

If you did, and known-good microphones aren't working on that machine you're probably using the wrong input connector.  Try using the one in front/on back - whichever one you HAVE NOT been trying thusfar....
