I have semi-wireless network connection and I run a 66ms ping time.

Some of / MOST of the time, even... sure... maybe....

I do! I have it converting from CAT-5e to 120v Romex and back again, 55' away!

lets see, I'll get a screenshot of my pinging one of the BFM servers...

And pinging to my router:

^^There's 2 other computers and a printer on the router's ethernet port that I'm using!

ROFL!

That's NOT WIRELESS!

It's just NOT CAT5!

Trust me, going through wall-wiring isn't nearly as "unpredictable" as wireless!

Try connecting without using wireless, if you can.... (Even just to TRY it for a bit to see if that is, indeed the problem. [Hint: It probably is....] )

With what I put up with on my wireless in my house, get the chord if it isn't too much of a hassle.

So long as it's under 100m it's doable....

Unfortunately pulling that kind of length of cable isn't for the "uninitiated," tho.  Crimping the connectors on the end is really quite easy tho.  (I run/pull all my own cables and make up the ends in a snap! 'Gotta have the right RJ45 crimping tool, tho, @$45 it's not something most ppl would buy for ONE cable run...)

Yup. Go the crimpers! People put together cables and go, why don't they work? 10 mins later... did you crimp it?
At least you know the own cable you made is good.. or not so good. But you can hopefully make yourself your own reliable cable :)

I use wireless to my laptop and I dont have many problems but when I do, this is how I fix it.

If its lagging;
1. try to move closer to your wireless router, the signal is stronger the closer you are,
2. close as many other programs as you can.

If your problem is that you keep losing the connection,
1. try disabling your laptops wireless card and turning it back on (most laptops all you have to do is hit function(Fn) and F2 or another key, if you don't have a keyboard shortcut then you'll have to look around in your wireless/internet settings)
2. make sure that when your laptop is connecting to the wireless it isnt using the "connect one time only option."

thats all the help I've got for you other than switching internet companies/ wireless equipment, I've got verizon Fios and it works great.

ttyl,
