So unfortunately my power supply decided it would die. Apparently the fan stopped spinning and it overheated making a nice thunk noise in the process. Typing from it now but I am sort of passively cooling it from the outside. It also seems to have damaged my motherboard which keeps producing a few errors on start up. I just picked up the parts for my new computer
Case: Fractal Design R3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
CPU: Intel 3750k (will overclock)
RAM: G-Skill 2x8GB 1600MHz Ares Low Profile
PSU: Seasonic X-560
SSD: Intel 520 240GB
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 260 Core 216 Edition (recycled from old build, will probably overclock now)
CPU Heatsink/Fan: Thermalright Silver Arrow
The remaining (functional) pieces of the old build I am giving to Dad to power his observatory system... I think my Q660 and 4GB or RAM will be quite an upgrade from his old pentium!
Note that my main storage is on a 4-Bay QNAP NAS so the SSD is only to run the core of my system. All my music and documents are stored and accessed directly from my NAS.
