Apparently Macsoft is bringing CE to mac in February '09
Probably a lie, but cant wait
-
I've been thinking about it and wondered if this would work ...
Has anyone tried running a PC emulator on a mac to run CE? That should work shouldn't it?
-
My friend tried to do this and it didn't work
-
Heh, I don't come on this board board very often, so I completely missed this. :P
Where did you hear that MacSoft was bringing CE to the Mac? I haven't been able to find anything on it.
Realistically the only option is to run Windows and get custom edition that way. WINE/CrossOver doesn't work well enough yet, in my experience. I only tried the free Halo trial with that, enough to know it wasn't worth exploring further. For me, it barely got to the menu and hung there. For other reasons, I eventually went the dual-boot route (Vista home premium) and got CE that way.

I just searched Halo Custom Edition for Mac on google. Doesnt seem to be there anymore.
Running XP on a mac just seems too much of hassle
-having to buy XP
-having to upgrade to OSX Leopard
-having to get boot camp
-have to get a 1GB RAM chip because Leopard requires 1GB or more.

Probably pure poppycock and rumor.
Since Micro$oft has NOTHING TO DO with Halo CE. It is exclusively a BUNGIE release*, and is NOT supported by Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892611/en-us).
Ditto everything here for the Halo PC Dedicated Server, too....
And given the ridiculous AGE of the game/SW, I don't see the advantage to anyone spending the $$ to port it, really....
On the other hand, you never know! ::)
* Not even GearBox/Bungie consider Custom Edition a product, BTW....
