Rockets take little skill.
But the game kind Igor said is fun, but other than that, rockets suck ;D
Most big maps are OK with them, but maps like prisoner, and derelict, well, blarg.. :-X
Edit: I said little skill.
And what im saying is its pointless, you both die once shot, unlike pistols etc. as in theres enough time to get in a rocket before you die.
And... even i do well on rocket servers, even when i have high ping, unlike i do on snipers etc. therefore taking less skill..

I would beg to differ VxT. I think for someone to go like " 2 Flags / 100+ Kills / and maybe say only 50 Deaths " takes a LOT of skill :)

I like a mix. There's too many servers with only rockets, and not enough with a mix. Our CTF server has a good mix though.

I had to vote for snipers on this one. Lol. Rockets are fun but I enjoy snipers more!

I also beg to differ on rockets take no skill, playing rockets on small maps where everyone has rockets? Not everyone can be fast to live long enough to get kills. It is fast paced and keeps you on your toes. I have heard/seen people leave the game because they can't stay alive long enough to get kills.

With Rockets makes it easier to jack a hog........but it also makes it easier to camp.

I like rockets. I also agree with honey. Every weapon set requires its own set of skills. Rockets are in your face. Snipers are fun and so are pistols but game play is totally different. I prefer rockets simply because I like the in your face pace of the game. I like to play all weapon sets but I have the most fun playing rockets. And for those who think it takes less skill I challenge you to a good slayer match with me, roddy, and honey. (! I beleive you would find a respect or you might just get frustrated and go back to "pistols" lol :winkgrin:

i dont like the use of rockets even though you get to make everyting darker with it they just dont home in on there targets like the needler does. and i like the needler

;D I am pretty good at rockets, but I don't use them much and I would perfer no rockets on a race server. No one likes it when when you are about to when, and then a rocket hits you and you can't find another hog.
But, it is your sever do whatever you want (!

Just came from the rocket server (#8, I think it is) and it's the same as every time I've gone in - nothing but campers, slayers, and generally the type of negative players who like all-rocket games. If you want to keep it, I'd suggest having different settings for different maps to balance out the gameplay; chaingun hogs on the more open levels (like Blood Gulch) to balance the ghosts, increased health/shields on more cramped (like Sidewinder) levels cause they're rocketfests, and so on.

I like the old-school weapon set. Pistols, Assault rifle. Pickup a plasma rifle instead of the assault rifle. Dang you got two deadly weapons right there. I have killed people up close with the plasma rifle before they even knew what was happening. Plasma depletes the shield in less than a second if in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. You can either go full pistol, or full Plasma rifle. Or, switch from Plasma rifle to Pistol after shield is drained and they're dead in seconds.
I don't like heavy weapons at all really. I don't really go out of my way in regular weapon set maps to pick up a heavy weapon. Come play CTF with me on our CTF server with heavy weapon set, and I'm sorry but you're gonna hear a bunch of whining from me :P
I hate heavy weapons, you die too quickly and really anyone can shoot one. 2c

Yes they are fun but can get boring RLY quick so i put either! :)

I'm definitely more of a tactical sniper than a rocket commando. Far more finesse required with faster results too.
I'm a big fan of the Covie pistol though, more effective than either the Human pistol or the Cov rifle.

:angel:I believe that servers with only 1 weapon (ie. snipers, rockets) suck. And rockets are a way to get a cheap kill (and in my case a suicide). In the heavy-weapons category i prefer the fuel rod. it isnt allways instant kill and it looks pretty.

Well.... I prefer the modded servers were the snipers shoot tank rounds! :neckbeard: ;D but I'd prefer a RL for non modded games. Makes a nice THWUMP sound, and almost always ends in the opponents death :dance:

I said no rockets because they are what I call a "fire and forget weapon" AKA, you fire and then forget it took almost no skill... Rocket hog turrets excluded from that statement as hitting a fast moving hog while in another fast moving hog is a different story all together :P

I used to think Rockets take no skill but I don't really believe that any more. It is true that it is easy for most people to get kills with a rocket launcher, especially in an All Rockets game, but just because a lot of people can get kills without doesn't mean that someone that is skilled with a rocket launcher can't get more kills. People that really know how to use a RL can kill far more people before they get killed by someone who spawns right next to them, and there are plenty of certain *special* shots that only someone that knows how to use a RL well can get kills with.
My point is that while the RL is easy to get kills with, there are also those who have lots of skill using it and are better than most others.

Rockets are fun, but I VERY MUCH prefer all weapons on the map.
You guys have WAY too many rocket matches in K/O/S, add some regular matches in there too, it gets very frustrating when you die every 10 seconds or less.
Add just a good ol' free for all, regular game of slayer. Plasma pistol to start, normal weapons on the field.
Like i siad, they're fun, but you put WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to many rocket games in the K/O/S server

That's rubbish. You can never have too many rocket games.
For those who said they want a challenge, you should play 8v8 CTF on longest. Hardest (non-modded) game I've ever played. :P

i am totally garbage and always get blasted by rockets which makes me mad. if i cant win with rockets then i don't like them. if i cant win at a game period then i don't like the game ether. LOL

I will agree, even though I am in a heavies clan, rockets take little to no skill...but that just levels the playing field, and I'm not talking about just noobs to pros. If you've ever played in a legitimate Heavies dedi server, where there are full vehicles, 16 ppl (8v8), CTF on BG, there is no such thing as a shee/tank/ghost/hog noob/*insert expletive here*

Anyone who spawn camps, or just runs people over without going for the flag, counts as a 'shee, hog, ghost or scorpion noob.

I would prefer Hogwars (no starting weapon, no weapons on the field, just hogs, and the gunnerseats don't work), but if there MUST be weapons, then no rockets. I can NEVER live longer than 5 seconds!

If I was in a British server, then no rockets.

Despite throwing two plasma grenades on the floor, watching one explode launching one in the air where it explodes like a firework and saying "oooh" and "ahhhh" I like to blow things up with the Rocket launchers. :drool:
Of course on Race matches I respect others wanting to race and only fire rockets at nearby scenary to give the drivers a real high-speed-chase experience, but I love to watch a massive rocket killing up to four people on slayer.
