Oh dear, mine's not exactly a RIG, it's more like.....a Geo Metro....compared to some of your gaming RIGS. Here's my wonderfully stable but rather poor graphical computer:
Dell Dimension E3100
Intel Pentium 4 HT CPU 2.80GHz
512MB RAM :'(
80 GB Hard Drive
Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family :'( (integrated video driver)
15 inch flat-panel LCD
Soundblaster SigmaTel Audio (5.1 surround capable)
Creative 2.1 Speaker System (1 subwoofer, 2 satellites)/HP Premium Audio Microphone-Headset
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard - Illuminated Blue Keys
Dell Premium Laser Mouse - 3200 dpi
Laser Pad (Wal-Mart rules!)
Windows XP Media Center Edition
By far nothing fancy, but it gets the job done....when taxes come, I plan on getting tires for my truck, and a new PC. Then this one is going on EBAY!

Internet connection, type/speed/provider: [shared] Comcast cable Standard (4-6Mbps dn / 368kbps up)
Modem, type: Motorola Speedstream
Additional Items:
Saitek Cyborg EVO gaming joystick
7.1 Headset: Razer Barracuda (REALLY! It has multiple speakers inside each ear cup!!)
5.1 Speaker system: Altec Lansing FX5051
Additional blue LED: "feet"; ultra-quiet intake & exhaust fans
1 ultra-quiet PCI-slot fan
Lemme tell ya: Games look SO AWESOME on this thing, when he bumps up all the video options to "high" and you see it at 1920x1200!!!
And I balanced the airflow (used stick-on strip thermometer and some paper "streamers") to adjust it so the fans spin low-speed (quiet) ...and the thing runs cooler than mine does!

Geez, Mxy, no wonder you kick butt every way to Sunday. My rig's so slow it's no wonder I can't get out of your way.
(nice stuffed bunny, btw)
^^^^ See! It's NOT MY MACHINE! It's MoNsTeR's!
My machine is over THREE YEARS OLD and has a Prescott chip from the first run of them! (Folks: That's OLD SCHOOL! It's the first hyperthreaded CPU!)
My screen is all laggy and stuff, and I run it on the LOWEST SETTINGS!
(I'm hoping to get MoNsTeR's machine when he goes away to school! d_b )

Okay, so I might be the idiot here, but where do I find all this information for my computer? I wanna post mine :)You know it off my heart :P
:o
That's quite the machine there Mxy/Monster!
I guess I'll be the second to post my Apple rig. I know most of it, but had to look up some details using an app called Mactracker. Apple has their own pages for it but I don't remember how to find them and I'm lazy. ;D
Model: MacBook Pro, the first Apple laptop with Intel processors
2.0 GHz Core Duo (Yonah), 2 MB shared L2
667 MHz bus
2 GB SDRAM - DDR2, PC2-5300 (2 DIMMS using interleaved mode)
100 GB internal HDD @ 7200 rpm
500 GB external HDD on eSATA through an ExpressCard ... card
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600, 256 MB GDDR3 (dedicated, I believe)
Built-in 15.4 inch LCD @ 1440x900
External ViewSonic VA720 LCD @ 1280x1024
External mouse Logitech (laser; wireless, not Bluetooth), no model number on it and I don't remember
External keyboard, Macally iKey (full size; I hate laptop keyboards for extended use)
Mac OS X 10.4.10 dual boot with Mac OS X 10.5.1
It's about 2 years old now (my previous one was at least 4 when I replaced it). Incidentally, yes, I can play with the maximum graphics options on Halo. ;D
o.k. then.I guess I'll be the first (and probably the only )one to post a weak computer but I'm not scared so here it is.enjoy rolling on the floor.dell dimension l733r with intel pentium 3 processor~730 mhz 510 mb ram 810 chipset nividia 5200 graphics card 20 gig hard drive creative labs sbpci direct sound with a 14 inch dell e550 screen and belkin 5000 ethernet adapter.it gets the job done though......sometimes :)

Nice Myx and for just $870, yours beats mine as well :'( in graphics, Power supply and mobo
I got same process and twice you RAM (close enough to the same PC lol), mine cost a little over $2000 when I built it in October 2006 (I only recently upgraded the RAM though) prices have surely dropped alot since back then lol
Your Tri monitors and what I would say OVERKILL lol

I probably should've explained the tri-monitor setup a bit more, so you get the gist of what's going on here....
To recap: The middle monitor is on a KVM switch, and acts as the PRIMARY monitor for both systems. [Call it "ON1."] The left-hand monitor is secondary for my old system ["O2"], and the right-hand monitor is secondary for my new system ["N2"].
I can play Halo from either machine - on ON1. (COMPLETELY diff. video settings tho!!) basically game-play or the "work-at-hand" for the moment is on ON1, one way or another....
O2 usually displays any combination of a variety of other things that I might have going on at the same time. E.g. Disk burning, remote log-in to other machines doing backups, market quotes, w/e. It is also home to my TV display which is built-in to my old system (ATI 9700 All-In-Wonder,) so I often have the "news," Letterman, or Ferguson there....
N2 usually displays Ventrilo and xfire if I'm in-game, but that's ONLY IF I'm NOT running in SLi mode (with the two cards ganged together as one, which limits me to only ON1 use in that case....) Halo doesn't benefit from SLi at all, so I usually have those applications up on N2 when I'm racing with y'all....
So while it may look like "overkill," I had three, 21" Sony monitors on my desk throughout most of my computing career and came to make excellent use of all that landscape then, as I still seem to be able to do now! (FYI: I also ran "virtual desktop" software on my old 3-monitor "work" system, making each monitor act as if it were NINE SCREENS, so I had 27 desktops!!! :o :o So having a mere three now, is SOOO NOT overkill! )
nvidia 8600gt 512mb.
I want that chair! Looks so comfy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Linksys Wireless Routers? We got them at my place :)
I noticed the cables under the desk :)
I also notice your phone seems to have also snuck into many of the pictures ;)
Looks like a nice setup!
FYI: There are some pretty nice GAMING notebooks ("laptop" is SOOOO five minutes ago! ) that won't break the bank, and I'm not just talking about the high-end ones by Alienware and the like!...

I'm still trying to figure it out myself personally. I try to put the least ammount of stuff on, just the essentials. I can barely, BARELY fit Itunes on here, I had to get rid of Limewire just so it fit. I can't put any movies on my Itouch because I can't download anything without going over the limit. Right now it's in reformatting so I have to put everything back on it when I finally get it back. The thing that ticks me off the most is that it has 2 hard drives, one for school, one for home use. The school side harddrive is somewhere around 40 gig I think, but I have to check on that
1) You got Windows AND Halo installed on a 22GB HDD?!?
What they don't know won't hurt them I suppose. It's amazing how a school computer can take really bad components and find a way to put it together. The good part about possibly the worst graphics out there, absolutely NO LAG
2) Your "video card" (i.e. "integrated Graphics Adapter" [iGA]) is listed as "not supported" by MS/Bungie.
Again, still trying to figure out this myself. On every site I go on it tells me I'm not supposed to be able to run anything on it, guess they need to remake that. I'm getting an extra gig worth of RAM (I think) in my computer while they are doing the reformatting for a class I'm taking, so hopefully that issue will fix itself. And yes you are right, it isn't possible to have 502 MB, I lied, it's actually 512 (I know, huge difference)
3) It's NOT POSSIBLE to have 502 MB of memory in a computer. Nope. No way.
"Gimme the LEAST I need to play what I want to play ... and be happy with it!"

I think you have that confused with Hard Drive. I believe memory has to be under 10 GB. (The highest I've seen is 8 GB)
Nice setup Atroxide! Except the second monitor does not fit in with the futuristic, sleek design :PI would rather it look ugly and make me more productive, then not having it all and making it look better.

Trust me, once you get a second monitor, you can't go back to one. (it is so helpful for things like programming)
ive installed more RAM so now i got 8gb, now i just have to get a 64 Bit OS. :toot:

DUDE, that is a crazy case, and not only does it look cool it has some power behind it. i would die for that case. and as for noise, who cares. i think it makes your computer sound more powerful if it is really loud.

silly lists of partitions + mounted drives
I think whatever controls what hardware/software gets what ordering/rank/number/donut decided "Y'know, instead of being perfectly logical about things, I'm going to have a spaz."You can say that again.
It makes me angry because every time I open a simple program I get spammed with "No Disk" errors because EVERYTHING is apparently hard-coded to use the C:\ drive for some stupid reason.
Only just updated mine about a month ago, But this is my new rig atm :)

How can it be Dominator and XMS3? Whats written on the side of the sticks Dominator or XMS3?
Dominator is like the overclocking enthusiast brand, while XMS3 is more mainstream.
Normally Dominator RAM costs more.

3 TiB of RAM?! how could this be possible? I never heard of that before, if HDD i will believe you but RAM? as I can know now it exist only the one with 2.5TiB which the US govt would buy http://news.techworld.com/storage/1176/us-govt-buys-worlds-biggest-ram-disk/ (http://news.techworld.com/storage/1176/us-govt-buys-worlds-biggest-ram-disk/) but 3TiB? wow! are you show off or are you real? u must be super rich. And ur PC spec look like the best, but u should know the spec. like Taipan said, If u show the screenshot of yours than ur PC is my dream machine.
Oh I see, if it was a HDD then I think i have been misunderstood the article, and beside now I was using a 2TiB HDD! lol so can you tell me that does a 3TiB of RAM exist?

Yeah it can exist though will be very expensive and def not for the average consumer. You can create a virtual RAM disk with your normal RAM, but obviously will be no where near 2TB. Solid state drives are becoming the new high end stuff. PCie x16 SSD arrays can achieve insane speeds. While the latest SATA sandforce chipset SSDs can get to 285MB/s read, 275MB/s write.

Wow, that's nice I think my next PC will be 2 or 3 TiB SSD, and yeah if it exist why that guy need a large capacity of RAM for? does his home run a bunch of servers?

Well your either a forum troll and/or know nothing about computers, but considering you have said best and extreme you are trying to impress. SOOOO we need proof of this awesome computer.
Download CPUZ from here: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz_154_setup.exe
Once you have install it, open it and make a print screen of the CPU and Memory tabs
Download GPUz from here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1788e/GPU-Z.0.4.2.exe
Once you have downloaded it just open it and take a print screen
Put your print screens on photobucket (or whatever imaging hosting site you use) and post them up to validate your "awesome" computer.
Example (my computer):

Have you upped your Vcore any?
I do intend to OC my 1090 to 4GHz, no idea how to go about it though, tried through BIOS multipler 20x and stock other thing which is 200MHz like I watched on a YT vid and then I run Prime95 and my PC restarts itself after 30 secs? But yeah, just testing things atm, not really tried seriously. Some tips would be good though Taipan :P

I am actually the head of the FBI's UK Processor branch, and this is my CPU-z screenie of the new top secret i7 92000 40 core processor.
:siderofl:
why the need for 8 gig?
:interesting:
i would show you mine but im to ashamed of it... ok ill you. its a Dell Latitude C610 laptop Pentium 3 1.2 GHz with a whopping 384 MB Ram and a Mass 20g hard drive i am amazed it even plays halo.... :AOL:
why the need for 8 gig?
:interesting:
not sure... lol.. i do like 5 gig.. i just like maxing things out.. but id rather atleast have my proc i want... then id be happier than anyone i know lol. i think if i got my Phenom II x6 1090T black edition.. id be sufficiently satisfied :D

what i meant more was operationally, where is the need for 8 gig?! I'm rather worried if you can even get through 4!

My goodness thats a lot of pictures.
lol.. all the beautiful electronics and you only comment on how many pics lol.. :P.
7.0 actually isnt that low.. and from what im guessing its probably not over clocked or anything? but i do know the AMD 970 gets a windows 7 score of 7.4 our of box :)
7.0 actually isnt that low.. and from what im guessing its probably not over clocked or anything? but i do know the AMD 970 gets a windows 7 score of 7.4 our of box :)
yeh 7.0 isnt bad however compareing that to my old phenom ii x3 unlocked to x4 that gets a score of 6.6 thats only 0.4 of an improvment not alot when you see it that way.
yep the AMD 970 is way more powerfull and the reson for this is the i7 950 is only a 4 core prossesor but it has 4 vurtial cores ( not pysical ones ) now in theory you would think this more powerfull however all i7 cpu,s are throtled back so they can have the so called turbo boost feature that for a short time runs the chip at is full potential but for 95% of the time its running at the lower speed and its not even something you can disable were as the AMD 970 runs at its top speed at all times granted amd have coolnquiet but you can disable that in the bios
I'd have to say that most of these systems probably run Halo PC pretty well =]
I need to get a new PC to run Diablo III, but it's so expensive. D=
I'd build it myself from individual parts, but it's still expensive if I get something that's going to last me as long as this PC has.
And btw: I got the same mouse, I gotta say, it's quite nice for only having 4 buttons. And the speed on those hard drives is insane!

Thx, but nah - my SLI'd dual 9600GT OCs have a good ~2 years left before they're pushed past the limits of what's out and what will be out during that time frame.
However, if Skyrim doesn't look absolutely gorgeous and play well I may be back in the market!

Looks Good, except you don't need 16GB of RAM unless you are making like movies or something :P
since all games are just console ports these days you only need to buy a card that can play everything now and it will still play anything until 2014-2015 when the next generations of consoles are released.

Notes:
- This PC has 2 main purposes. First is a gaming machine and second is a virtual machine host. I can create multiple VM's for network protocol and application testing which I can allocate 4-8 threads each and 3-4GB memory, hence the 16 core CPU instead one better for just gaming.
- My CPU I can OC all cores to 3.9GHz before thermals get to ~75-80C under Prime95, however I leave it with just XFR enabled because that automatically overclocks the first 4 cores to 4.2GHz, which is better for just gaming.
- My 3TB is disconnected because when I bought my Mobo I thought it would have 8 SATA ports and it only had 6 -__-. Need a PCie SATA Card.
- Next upgrades are the monitors. I am waiting for the Acer Predator X27 to be release early next year :). The other upgrade planning is the primary SSD which I am looking at the Samsung 960 PRO M.2 drives
