Title: Post your ORIGINAL Haiku's here!
Post by: MrMxyzptlk on September 10, 2007, 09:58:22 AM
Okay.

I LOVE Haikus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku)!  I make them up on the spot all the time, about any topic/event.

So, in this thread I invite you to MAKE UP A HAIKU with a CONNECTION to the previously-posted Haiku!

Rules: (RULES?!?!  Who needs RULES?!?!)

- You MUST have SOME link - use a key word, topical, or on the same general subject, or you will be sought out and punished harshly!

- You MUST post a proper Haiku, in proper format or you will be CASTIGATED (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/castigated)!

- If you get a pop-up that someone has posted since you started posting YOUR Haiku (which is a REALLY NICE FEATURE, BTW!) please DO ANOTHER HAIKU BASED ON THE MORE-RECENT ONE (or at least check that your's still works with the new one...) or we'll edit embarrasing things into your out-of-cyle post!  ;)

- You MUST have fun or we'll all be supremely dissapointed!

Okay, here's mine to kick things off! (Syllable count provided as an aide for beginners):

Haiku's are easy (5)
But sometimes they make no sense (7)
Refrigerator (5)

 :LOL:

Sry flamedragon, but that's not a proper Haiku.... (Pls see first post for details.)

Ya, you got it right there, Plixity: "toast(y)"

As for yours, I see two possible links:
1) "BOO(-hoo)" ala a crying baby, hence "hush little baby"
2) "Daddy's gunna sing" == "BEWARE!"  ;D

...And Kakashi: "confection BEWARE!"??  Huh?!?

I'm living downtown
Quite close to the small airport
Air Show: Stay away!

It's really loud, all those fighter jets zooming by... Although, not too long ago I heard one flying by and I ran to the window (to shake my fist at it, not because they're cool and I wanted to see it or anything) and just before it went beyond my view range, it did two barrel rolls. Awesome! I've never been to an Air Show... Oh, and I saw the MetLife blimp, too!

Hm...dihydrogen-
monoxide... should it be banned
or not? You decide!

Facts about dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO):
    * Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
    * Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
    * Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
    * DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
    * Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
    * Contributes to soil erosion.
    * Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
    * Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
    * Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
    * Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
    * Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
    * Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms
       in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
    * Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.

You know you've over dose'd on DHMO when you get any (or all o.o) of the following:
    * Excessive sweating
    * Excessive urination
    * Bloated feeling
    * Nausea
    * Vomiting
    * Electrolyte imbalance
    * Hyponatremia (serum hypotonicity)
    * Dangerously imbalanced levels of ECF and ICF in the blood
    * Degeneration of sodium homeostasis

More information on it can be found here! (http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html)

heh.

"Drawer" can be EITHER one OR two syllables!:

- If it's a boxlike thing that can be pulled out of furniture - as in your usage - it's one syllable: "drawer."

- If it's someone that DRAWS, they're a "draw-er" - two syllables!

Stop! Don't turn it in!
Haiku's are 5, 7, 5!

They taste ver-y awe-some

   1       2    3  4    5    6

ACK! Wait a second!
That would be 8, not 7!
Perhaps we could help.

They rea-lly taste rea-lly awe-some
  1      2   3    4      5    6    7      8

You could have something like "They taste amazing!"

EDIT: I think thats where the break in "really" goes...  :LOL:.

Assuming that you're talking about the BOOK, and NOT the magazine(!)....
' "Carpe Noctem- Sieze the Night": DO NOT Meddle In The Affairs Of Dragons ...' and "dragons" in lore are often referred to as "snakes...."

And if I'm on the right path here, it appears that some of the main characters (all of them in the magazines!) are, um not very "light-tolerant," shall we say??  ::)

My dear, dear Diehard...

Please read the first post (http://www.bfmracing.net/forums/index.php/topic,3449.0.html)

(Although there IS one stretch of a possible link, so please DO explain if that's it....  GJ! on the meter/syllables format, too! )

So here's my link to:
Wait - instead of what?

Haiku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku) has a past

varied, transmuted, rooted

in ancient* Japan

* Okay, so "ancient" here really means "pre 1600s," but other, less formal forms of related Japanese poetry gave root to the more formulaic early versions of the Haiku, which technically "took form" in the 1600s....  ::)  :P

Kinda hard for me
when the website is layed out

I try to read the
first post but it's at the end
of the thread, not (the) start.

(I have my layout preferences set to show the most recent posts first, that way I don't have to scroll down past previous posts that I have read.  Makes it a bit hard when people reference previous posts, but I can usually tell what they mean.)

I did it deliberately.
For "comic" effect.

Also, so's you know,

"Del-lib-brut-lee" - four!!

Okay, building off bfm_mufnman's haiku...

Spring is good and bad
Good because of change, bad since...
Well, the allergies.

Um, you DID read the ENTIRE first post, right??:

 :LOL:

Okay, so here's my haiku contribution, inspired by L°§tMyMiNÐ's:

Seek the Spring Of Life
Within find Good and Evil
May your Spring be Well

...And that relates to my last haiku....

                                                                                     in no way whatsoever?

Folks: Please read the first post to find out about how this thread works....

'Guess I'll just have to post another one, based on my last one now!:

Mary had a lamb
The little lamb would run and play
Then it found the well...

In the well it sat.
The water around it's knee's.
Drinking to delight.

It is such a shame:
this thread seems to have dried up
Just as Water can.

Pity those who must
Rely on wells to quench their thirst
When they can run dry.

Oops! The second part -
in line two, in fact, I'm sure -
has EIGHT syllables!  :siren:

It is not enough
To speak in haiku format.
Counting on fingers.

Five fingers per hand
Or four on each one if you
Don't include the thumbs...
Title: Re: Post your ORIGINAL Haiku's here!
Post by: Lucky on February 14, 2012, 10:19:55 AM
No thumbs, Three60?
Maybe that's why you messed up!
It is possible...
Title: Re: Post your ORIGINAL Haiku's here!
Post by: jim360 on February 14, 2012, 10:23:45 AM
Possible, Lucky?
More like probable, frankly.
Oh well, never mind!

Don't be so headstrong:
A feather can break diamond
IF you do it right....

Again, I'm confused:
Each post must link to prior,
First post (http://www.bfmracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=3449.0) makes that clear....

Honestly, Mxy,
The link was clearly marked out
By the word in red.

What I tried to show,
With the highlighted red word,
Was the link to Threes'.

His use of "gen'ral"
And my use of "General" too.
Does that link enough?

If not, I'm sorry.
My thoughts were it still counted.
I apologies.
