343 Industries really caught the ball on this one. Campaign was excellent, Spartan Ops and War Games are both very entertaining. 8/10 from me. It would be higher, except I was slightly disappointed with Forge (I'm an avid forger, and created 100s of maps in Reach). There are three dedicated Forge maps, but I still feel let down by the lack of size and freedom that I was looking forward too, and that I experienced in Forge World in Halo reach. Some points (good/neutral and bad);

Halo 4 really showed Xbox 360's relatively primitive processing capability with Forge. Placing objects and then re-entering Spartan mode takes time, a few seconds to load the lighting and shadow of the object(s).

There is still a limit to the amount of a type of object you can place (100 blocks, 100 walls, 100 decorations, etc).

Momentum is not conserved when entering Spartan mode when moving fast in Forge Mode.

There are no UNSC air vehicles at all (in Forge), the only flying vehicle being the banshee. I do not understand the reasoning behind this.

Mass-deletion of objects is much easier.

With all that said, I am still having fun creating new maps with the variety of forge maps available. It will still offer great customisability, but a few little things could make it a lot better IMO.

I didn't expect much out of Halo 4 but I was absolutely impressed. The campaign was really well done this time around, and it was great to see the chief back in action. The cutscenes are also fantastic, and it sometimes becomes difficult to see the difference between what's real and what's not.

The game combines elements from previous Halos, and morphs them with a few Call of Duty aspects, and manages to make them work, maybe even better than the original. Multiplayer is a blast with a ton of different game modes and ways to play.

The only complaints are what were not included. Vehicles like the Falcon or Hornet would have been nice. How about some brutes thrown in? Engineers? Drones? Whatever happened to the Arbiter and why was there no appearance or even reference to him or the alliance with the elites?

Also what about Firefight. Firefight in ODST was a blast and I have some great memories of how difficult some of those achievements are. It was great fun. And Reach added tons of customization. I don't see why it wasn't kept this time around. I would have kept Firefight over the current Spartan Ops, which feel rather redundant.

Yes there are some negatives, but the game is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone.

Played the campaign and was impressed with the sound, some of the visuals and the cutscenes. For whatever reason I'm left slightly underwhelmed. Perhaps I was just expecting it to be brilliant and wasn't let down. Anyway I'm looking forward to Halo's 5 and 6. Maybe they'll plug a few story gaps, e.g. where are the Arbiter and the "good" Elites. Possibly I was also distracted by the fact that it's seriously difficult trying to beat those darned Promethean Knights on Legendary difficulty -- especially the ones armed with Binary Rifles or whatever they are called. So distracting, dying every other second, when you're trying also to appreciate the game.
Check out my Short introduction... corner and my "Historical figures who should perhaps be better-known" thread!!

Exciting videos: 1.1 / 1.2 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Major problem. My rank has been capped at SR70 (level 70). This is after three weeks of playing. I've only played through two specialisations and can not earn any more XP. I've researched into this and it appears to be 343's decision to cap players that did not receive special promotional codes at SR70. How disappointing.

EDIT: It appears that 343 are frantically trying to send everyone the codes. Whether or not they realised their error in judgement is unknown. Hoping I get mine soon.

No Falcon? No Hornet? Probably a consequence of the fact that most of your vehicles early on are salvage, so it would be hard to find one. Later on, when you get more vehicles, they thought they'd let you fly a pelican instead. Are you really gonna complain about that?

No Brutes? No Drones? No Engineers? That's because you're fighting a breakaway Covenant group. Presumably, no Brutes/Drones/Engineers joined it.

No Arbiter? It's very possible he'll pop up in later games in the trilogy. Please enlighten me how they could have worked the Arbiter in without some immense changes to the Halo 4 plot.

No reference to the alliance with the Elites? Er...yes, there was. In a semi-cutscene in the first level, the Chief remarks "I thought we had a truce with the Covenant." Cortana replies that "A lot can change in four years---these Covenant aren't outfitted like standard military. It's possible we've just stumbled upon a rogue salvage ship."

My only complaint was that the campaign wasn't nearly long enough. I kinda wanted something that would take me about a month to complete.
