I really don't know which one to get. Ive never had an xbox before and i'm a huge playstation fan, but over here they have stopped selling the 60GB PS3.. Only the 40GB is avaliable.
I've looked into Xbox and you can buy wayyyy better memory. It's cheaper. Plus then I could buy Halo 2 and Halo 3!!
The only thing thats stopping me from making the easy decision is the internet access.
PS3 is free, but you have to pay for Xbox Live. I love online gaming even though halo PC was my first so i'd love to play it more. Is Xbox Live really worth paying the money for and is it much??

I'd say that the xbox 360 is best.
I do not even want to bother playing a PS3.
The PS3 does not have very much great games.
Not as much as the xbox 360 does.
Plus, on the gaming magazines, the PS3 games are rated as not very great/good.
Lets say that some of them are 5/10 and some are 7/10.
There are very few that are rated 8 or 9.
The PS3 isn't a great console.
Like I said, "I would get the xbox 360,"
but this choice is up to you.
So you go ahead on your decision.

If it had the money for either, I'd go PS3, especially with the whole Blueray thingy taking over. The online is free, and the machine is better.
The 360 has some better games at the moment, but the PS3 will with time, like MGS!!!!! (Metal Gear Solid)
With that in mind, I'd say go PS3. In my eyes all the 360 has to me to make me get it would be Halo. So the PS3 outweighs it.

I has a PS2 before. It was ok, but I really like the 360 more. Xbox Live is awesome. In Halo alone, I see 425,000 people playing online. It is HUGE. Go with the 360. That way you can play Halo 2 & 3 with all of us :D

I'll leave my bias at the door for this one.
The PS3 is a more powerful machine for sure, and has a built in Blueray player. Both are strong arguments for it, as so is the free Playstation Network as well. However it currently performs poorly in the game selection and variety Category.
Most of the major releases (CoD4, Orange Box, DMC4, Assassin's Creed) are on both systems. So it comes down to what are you looking for in a gaming system?
The PS3 and 360 both have wireless controllers (perk), the PS3 has 6 axis (see: gimmick), 360 has Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect and Ace Combat 6 (see: pwnage), a Yearly subscription for Live is around $40.00 via a prepaid card if one chooses, and MS likes to nickle and dime users for some of the Downloadable content (see: Highway robbery, Ace Combat 6).
With the exception of MGS and Final Fantasy XIII, most of the real powerhouse games coming out this year are on the 360. As it stands, the only real stand out exclusives on the PS3 are Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, and Resistance. Lair looks like it has potential, however I am reserving judgement on it.

This is a good poll question. I was wondering the same thing myself. Not that I'm going to buy one or the other, but if I was... This is good to know!
My PS1 is still going strong!
And I'd go for the XBOX for the Halo games. If I were to choose. I didn't vote.

i chose the 360, i own one myself and i love it soooooooooo much!!!
the xbox live doesnt cost taht much and when you first sign up to xbox live you get a 30 day free trial.

I still say that I would rather get the xbox 360.
I never really liked the PS consoles.
Most of the games are very boring and bland.
Yes, I understand about the blue ray thing,
but I don't really care about watching movies in really high def.

i think this poll is a bit biased many people are choosing alone from the great 'playstation vs xbox' which is better' arguement which has gone on for so long
I think i'm leaning towards the ps3 again though which was my original idea
mainly i want it for grand theft auto which is coming out on both consoles but i really want to play halo 2 and 3

Coming from a PS3 owner... I'd say fair points for both consoles. If you have the money though i'd go with the PS3, if you don't the XBox is still a great console.

Technically the PS3 is better.
So instead you should look at what games are out now for both consoles.
and what games will be coming out, then make your decision.
Peoples game preference is bound to be different, so its down to you Spidey.

well, as all of u from vent know, i hve a PS3. My m8 has a 360. PS3 is actually the most powerful *computer* in my house at the mo (nothing beats an 8 core precessor ;D ;D) AND the playstation has lots of things going for it. I believe that, after setting up my m8s 360, the ps3 is more user friendly, and the CONTROLLER! its liek a Wii and 360 in 1!. PLUS, with Blu-Ray *winning* the format *war* then i think the games will get a bit cheaper! the xbox online GOLD membership is £3 a month, (not bad, but thats £36 every year :-S) and teh 360 is a PAIN when MSN is concerned (blowing someones head off, then getting a msn msg through when ur trying 2 see ur score at the bottom of the screen :-S) but teh silver membership is FREE (u cant download deoms, or host your own games mind :-S) PS3 is Cheaper in the LONG run (£400 isnt cheap in teh first place i know, but it repays itself [trust me]).
oh yeah, dd i mention that i think that the 360's graphics arnt a scratch on the PS3's (comparing of assassins creed).
anyway u know my thoughts on the PS3, any more questions either PM or Xfire me :-)

I have an Xbox 360. Dude, there is Halo and then everything else. How can you pass up Halo 2 and 3? You'l be crying at the end of Halo 3. It's just a no-brainer that you *have* to play those as soon as possible.
And then with Gears of War you get to use an assault rifle with a *chainsaw* on it. That is the all-time best weapon ever! Nothing better than having the "melee" option of sawing your enemy in half straight down the middle. I saw one comment that assassin's creed is better on PS3 in terms of graphics- but too bad that game has a terrible plot, too few voice-overs, and game play that is way too simple (just swing your sword over and over and your enemies fall by the dozen). Unless you have a super expensive 1080p tv, it's hard to see going with the PS3 over Xbox 360 just for graphics alone. My tv is good, but not good enough to tell the difference.
I'm not worried about the blu-ray situation, because I don't plan on buying HD DVDs for a couple more years, at which point I'll go down to the local store and pick up a basic blu-ray player for $50 anyway.
Do people actually use their console systems for music and other stuff that use a big HD? For me, it's a gaming machine pure and simple.
Anyway, if you decide to go with the PS3, then you can come over here and play Halo 2 & 3, because you really have to do that!

Take it from someone who has gone PS for quite a number of years, go with the XBox. Most XBox's come with a free game called Forza.It's a racing game and you will love that game if you ever get involved with it. The cost for onine gaming with xbox doesn't amount to much, there are more familiar games available and I think you would like it much more. Plus, like you said, you could go with Halo 2 and 3. Good luck in your decision.

XBOX 360. Cheaper and has a pretty good game base. Plus while sony is trying to catch up, you have live on line for the xbox. The silver is free and gold requires a fee. If you plan on spending the kind of money a ps3 requires you might as well just get a lower end pc instead. Same price, and it is better all around. The xbox can also be used as part of an overall setup for your home entertainment system. We started out on the playstation but migrated to the xbox. have not been sorry.

Though, I must admit that Zelda Twilight Princess is on the Cube, but I would get a Wii if I could find/afford one.
Frankly, in a choice battle between the Sony/MS battle, the 360 has more exclusives that are better titles. Yes the PS3 still have MGS4 coming up, but so far they have had a rather weak entry into the market.

it has to be the xbox 360, i had the playstation 2 for along time and i never owned an xbox before so i was a bit weary of getting it. But its worth it, most of the good games that come out on the PS3 also come out on the Xbox but you get the best 360 game ever as a bonus, halo 3. And it is worth paying xbox live, it is amazing. Truly worth it, and when you get a new xbox you get a month or two free with it, its not much but its beter than nothing. 360 ALL THE WAY!!!

Most of us will buy console systems for the games they play. It is stated that the 360 is easier to develop for. Since development time lines are rigid, current games on the PS3 may seem a little rushed. Therefore, the 360 wins out as far as quality and variety are concerned. Its thinking follows along the same lines as the PS2 and we all know how that turned out. The PS3 will take a while to mature, the 360 is already there. 360 vs. PS3...the 360 now and the PS3 later. :bang:

Agreed, don't get me wrong, the PS3 is a powerful system, however it has not shown what it can do yet. It may in MGS4, but we will have to see on that, as promise mean nothing if they are never delivered upon.

lol no game has the ability to show what the ps3 can do they don't even know what the ps3 is close to capable of they may not make alot of games but think about this how long would it take to make 9 gig of a game vrs 50 gig lol thus why it's a great system another thing is the ps3 is the ONLY updateable blue ray player and one more thing blue ray will do what dvd did be expencive then get cheaper and cheaper then soon it'll be cheap like dvd is now and thus every game will be on blue ray (sony finally sold rights to blue ray to microsoft only if sony gets to make the players lol)

PS3's are alot faster and alot more beautiful than the 360s, but I enjoy the xbox alot more, becuase of 1 simple thing. The CONTROLLER! It is perfectly designed, when you look at the PS3 controller, which I find is a bit to small. dont think this would influence anyones decision but yer... anyway... :Words:

ya but what blue ray player can update other than ps3 not one and what system is more advanced the ps3 what system is faster ps3 so i have 2 ps3's :P and a Wii but that's for the projecter since it's not HD compatable it's on that and the tv's for the ps3 we have are unbeleavable pluse ps3 is coming out with better games now that almost every one out for awhile has not been rated lower then a 9 out of 10 and the last 6 out were no lower then a 9.5 the last 2 out were 10 and the best game out now is MGS4: guns of the patriots it's outstanding in gameplay and in the cut senes, it's graphics of ingame are the same in the scenes and it's all awsome graphics plus ps3 has 2 other systems to fall back on so buy ps2 games or if you want buy ps1 games after all i play ps1 all the time on my ps3 :P and the problem with 360 is only a few games from xbox are compatable for ps3 buy the more expencive one the 80 or 60 gig and you can play any game for ps2 or ps1 except the 80 gig can't play FF11 (Final Fantisy 11) i get my information from www.gamespy.com (http://www.gamespy.com)

Well they're kinda the same, the graphics, multiplayer mode, wireless controllers...but the ps3 has blu-ray and u dont have to pay for PlaystionLive or sumthin for multiplayer LOL. Xbox...well...gotta say better games, bit outdated, u gotta pay for live and yea i voted for ps3.

If you want a Bluray player for less than an arm and a leg, then the PS3 would be the best choice (my dad actually did that.) However, if you want a better title selection (Gears of War, Halo, Grid, Mass Effect, Too Human, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remenant, Fable 2, ect) plus all the games on the X-box arcade, then the 360 would be a better choice.
To give you an idea though, Square Enix who have supported Sony and ONLY Sony since Final Fantasy VII on the original Playstation has been moving more and more towards the 360 is much of their new releases. That makes me take notice. That and Namco moving their Ace Combat series to a 360 exclusive.
As for paying for Xbox live, I'll say this much, somethings are worth paying for.

And there are tons of games to buy on the Playstation Network, even the classic PS1 titles like C&C (Command & Conquer) and Crash Bandicoot.

Xbox 360 is a much better gaming console.
In the 360's defense: 360 is less expensive, it also has much better graphics, the games are so much more fun, better online support, and it has better overall performance than the PS3.
In the PS3's defense: Free online playing, and built in blu-ray.
So make your own choice, but the 360 is a better gaming console. (especially if u like FPS's!)

1. Expense doesn't make a console good or bad.
2. I have no idea what your source for the better graphics is. But it's wrong.
3. Better perfomance? No. I've heard countless stories of over heating 360's and damaged disk drive, then Microsoft making you wait upwards of 3 weeks for a replacement.

it all depends on what type of games u want, like most are for both ps3 and xbox, but some are unique for each game !!!!!!!!!!!! :clint:

The short answer is that there are more unique and fun games for the 360 than the PS3. While the PS3 has more powerful hardware and a Blue ray player built in, the exclusive content is marginal at best. The exception is Metal Gear, however I stopped praying at the alter of Hideo Kojima after Sons of Liberty because the series is way to preaching and with WAY too many long winded monologue sequences for it to be called a game instead of an Interactive movie.
Of the exclusive titles, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Rock Band, Halo 3, Ace Combat 6, and the upcoming Fable 2 justify the 360, imho.
Of the titles shared between the two; CoD4, GTAIV, Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, Soul Calibur 4 and DMC I don't notice much of a difference between them, but it's all subjective, yes?
