Xfire has had some bugs lately. Just run vent and you should be fine.

Back a few months ago Xfire  had an update that had a very bad habit. Using more bandwidth than needed to do what it does. I know myself &  Gevad I think had massive video lag. It looks like the latest Xfire update is trying to do the same thing and is causing some troubles.

As far as shutting down Xfire & it affecting Vent, I have no clue whatsoever as to why.

No Skype for me :S

Drat!

There's an old, known interaction between skype and other voice programs that does stuff like this....

Thought I had it on this one....  :-\

Anyway, most of the problems introduced several updates ago in xfire (when they added Vista support! @*&#&^#) have been fixed. Most of the ones that remain, or "held on" to the bitter end are with In-Game Messaging (IGM). (Which, despite it's name includes ALL in-game xfire stuff, like notices, etc.)

Try turning OFF in-game stuff in xfire:

0) (xfire logged in) Tools -> Options -> Chat tab

1) UNCHECK box in front of "Show chat messages in-game"

2) "OK" button out

...and see if it continues to happen.

Let us know, k?  GL & TYiA!.

Bleh! Thanks anyway Mxy, i'm gonna go snap my laptop in half now....

Now THAT I can help you with!

0) Open notebook as far as hinge will allow.

1) Turn it so one hinge end is facing you, the other outward.

2) Firmly grasp each left/right edge with (matching) hand, and raise entire device up in the air as far as possible.

3) As you swing the device down with all your might, raise your right knee sharply, striking the device's hinge on it as hard as you can.

4) Listen for a loud >SNAP!< as the device breaks into two. (Note: The halves may not fully separate due to cabling across the hinge.)

 ;)

Anything else?

 ;D
