Taking Screenshots in Halo
« on: December 23, 2007, 08:01:32 PM »
Yo!

I have the following options in my shortcut for Halo:

-console
-screenshot
-novideo

When I'm in a server and hit print screen the game pauses for a second but there's no notification of screenshot saved (maybe I remember seeing that from Halo CE?).  I checked C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo and no additional screen shots (my older ones were there), and did a search in my documents for newly created files today and not there either.

  Can anyone solve my mystery??

  Case of the missing screenshots.

There should be a screenshots folder in that directory. It isn't there?

Is the the right makeup of the target line in your shortcut? (IE. halo.exe" -screenshot -console -novideo) - Note the spaces.

Are you loading it via the shortcut?

They should save as .TGA files.

If you press printscreen it will save the picture to your RAM, where you must then paste it into Paint or some other image program. Just open the Paint program that comes with windows and click on paste and it should appear. You can then save it where you want as whatever type of image file you want.

With the -screenshot in the command line Halo bypasses that normal procedure and places the screenshots into a file in your halo game files. However he is not seeing the new screenshots in his folders.

He should still be able to get screenshots the normal way though even if that doesnt work.

I agree. Fraps is by far the easiest method I've seen so far.

I think HoverSnap! is the easiest to use and you never get and lag from it. I think you can find it at www.hoverdesk.net and it is freeware.
