Just curious to see how much time other kids besides ones at my school spend on homework...
-
On average, 2-3 hours, and I'm in Middle School =/
-
I usually have little homework, so only about an hour or so. Even though technically I'm supposed to study for 36 hours per week. In college they say for every hour in class you spend, you should spend 2 hours studying.
I rarely followed that. Studying doesn't do much for me. Tests and quizzes are fairly easy, it's usually the homework that's hard.
-
1-1.5 hours per night - though it is supposed to be 3 hours +...(Year 12 in Australia)
-
I go to one of the most competitive high schools in the nation, ranked 12th in the world.
I usually have about 6 hours of homework and studying everyday and about 3 hours each weekend.
On top of that I have a part-time job and other extra-cirriculars.
It sucks =/
Can't wait till college.
P.S. I wanna be a doctor =]

0-30 mins.......................... yeah its weird
-
3+
Taking college prep classes [the 2nd highest class you can take. 1st is AP].
All of the classes expect projects, books read, reports, etc.
-
Not sure. Even though I was taking all advanced courses (IB), I didn't have too much. The main stuff came from Calc 3, which I saved until the day before for 5-6 hours >.> Although there was the one week of 50 hours of homework...
-
i spend like an hour on homework most nights
but i should spend more
and on the weekends i spend like 7 hrs doin 1 assignment that is due the next day :ssh:
-
LOL none, my middle school was so easy. I either did it 2 seconds before class or during school.
Once the summer is over obviously it's going to be much different.
Oh and Brick you're going to be in High School once school starts back up again right?
-
I am homeschooled.
I do about 1-1.5 hours of school work already,
but I will most likely have more later on.
-
I kinda homeschooled. Next year I'm taking classes at a community college, so I'm expecting about 1 and a half ours of work.
-
about 15 minutes lol! we dont usually get much homework so it doesnt take much time to do them. and I dont do homework ever at home, I always do them at school :D
-
Real homework, about 30 mins a day.
I do most at school, as I have lessons and very often some free hours and than more lessons after that..

This poll seems to be a big hit! :yesyes:

1.5 to 2 is how much we are supposed to do but (thankfully) we have a block schedule. 2 of 4 accidemics then the other 2 the next day. so it helps even out the 90 minutes just for math. I normally do all of it in school during class. Next year is gunna be a lot harder since im going to our state's best marching band and high school.... :zoot:
-
Ive got a study hall :P
-
when i did my 11+ in 1976 i did about half hour, then for mocks in hi skool bout an hour, then for 'o' levels bout 2 hours and 3 b4 a test, at college first year city and guilds 0 hours, and for final c & g 1 hour. I am now doing theory test for heavy goods licence, have to remember 450 questions, this has so far taken me 4 hours for 300. I am lucky, i can remembr things and memorise them by association.
regards
-
I'll be honest, I spend about 10-30 minutes at home.
I make sure I have a study hall during school, that way I can get my work done there, and come home to race!! d_b
I IS NERD!! :interesting:

our school systems work so so differently...
-
Nowadays pupils are tested every 3 months or so, this is to ensure they are reaching targets (schools that is). The trouble is with that is teachers and pupils now spend more time on them, teachers have to do more hours and pupils get stressed. There is too high a percentage of kids who still leave school unable to read and write properly.
-
i spend 0 minutes, zero seconds and zero hours doing my homework. i just do it in school.
-
1-1.5 hours
-
Most nights i like to go to a study session for each class, i like doing that then doing homework on my own.. probably about 1 hour to 2 hours a night...

3+. If you include time spent practicing violin, it averages 5-6 hours on weekdays. (I played a concerto with my high school orchestra... I'm not the greatest, or anything, but I practice a whole lot. it's sickening.) Being a physics nerd, Halo enthusiast, and Tae Kwon Do fanatic doesn't exactly help either. :P
-
I was a bad student last year...i have no idea how i passed... 0 seconds in the second half of school. The only thing that kept me from failing was the school work. And even then i was asleep in class most the time  im going to change that this year... I estimate 1 - 2.5 hours for 8th grade homework.
-
Study Hall ftw only a few minuteso f homework if none at all
-
for me.. around 30 minutes a day (last year at least) this year (8th grade) im gunna spend more time on schoolwork cause i barely 'got by' last year :D
-
I don't do homework at my house.
I spend any second and every second extra I got at school doing it.
On average the bus takes 10 minutes from when I first go out to wait for it (Sometimes its early, which is why I am out there early). The bus ride is around 10 minutes long. Then when we get to school there is a 45 minute period before first period. Majority of classes have 5-10 minutes before the teacher starts teaching (taking attendance, etc.). We have a break period half way through morning, which is 20 minutes. Lunch is an hour long and it takes maybe 20 minutes to eat... lol. and then I have to wait for the bus, ride the bus, and then I am home.
Thats a good 2 hours plus not even having to waste my time on homework when I could be doing something I enjoy.
Why waste your freedom time when you could just do it when you can't do anything else.
PS: Also the fact that I work right when I get home to around 10pm might also be why I do it at school.
My method works and gets me straight A's.
-
I usually only study at max an hour, but depending what projects and subjects, my homework could take up to 5 hours.
-
5 hours is alot, the longest daily assignment i've ever had was about 2 and a half hours, but i bet theres longer ones in the neer future :eyebrow:
-Lucky-
-
3+
but I guess that's what happens when you have AP and all honors classes (even over the summer I have at least an hour of work every day)
-
I try to do most of my homework in school. But either way, it's about 0-30 minutes that I spend on homework. I usually don't have too much. :ssh:
-
Wow Texas!
You ONLY have a 10 minute bus ride?
I'm so jealous. My bus ride is 65mins each way to school :'(
-
My bus ride is 45 min, I do most of the stuff I forgot to do then
-
I don't ride a bus ;D
wen did they topic of "busses" some up, anyway?
-
any conversation involving homework always involves some sort of cramming tactic
-
need to do more than 30 min though
-
i'm inbetween 30 mins and 1 hour, usually my work gets done in sections, so that's all i need to do.
-
Same thing for me, Between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
-
Being in IB (International Bacc.) made me have to study a lot, and I was nowhere near the class valedictorian. He spent his days doing hw, studying, or playing guitar. Pretty much nothing else.
-
None....I dont bring it home.
I'm not saying you should...but if you set up a time for you and your buddies to meet at school the next morning...just make sure one of yo buddies has his work done....lol
I'm surprised I have passed any grade levels so far...currently 8thgrade, and about....2 F's i think?
-
Usually somewhere around a good three hours or more, and im a high school freshman. i scared for seniors
-
LOL trek. THREE hours for freshman? I just took my exams a couple of weeks ago and got b's-a's no studying involved.
Anyway i never do homework at home. i have a study hall 10th period witch lets me do the work i dont get done in the other classes
