Title: Modern Warfare 3 General Discussion
Post by: TheAlphaMan97 on September 09, 2011, 11:44:06 PM
So Modern Warfare 3 is yet to come out it hits Australian Stores 8th of November (The same with the rest of the world I think).

I'm just wondering who WILL get this game and what are your thoughts of it so far?

I'll be getting it for my PS3 and I think that it'll be a good game as long it's not full of Noobtubers and Quickscopes like MW2.

BF3 > MW3

:P

Meh. I found MW2 OK but after reading MW3's deathstreaks I'm not interested in the game at all.

It looks like it will be a great game, but I guess I'm a bit bored of cod by now, so it's BC 3 for me :D

With all the BF3 pre-release testing I've gotten to do, I've found I've liked it...maybe buying BF3 though, I hope it feels like MW1..the only good CoD IMO

Well, MW2 and Bad Company 2 were equally as fun in terms of what they had to offer. MW2 was very fast paced, and was arcade-like, with a very large range of guns and killstreak rewards. Bad Company 2 was much more involved with it's maps and vehicles, along with destruction physics, requiring much more use of tactics. I played both games a lot; I got to 4th prestige on MW2, and level 35 (out of 50) on BC2.

They were both great games and both had their highs and lows. MW2 was very easy to play, while also being very entertaining, but it's downsides were all on multiplayer. The maps and physics of it meant camping was re-defined in MW2. Also there was lots of spawn killing.
Bad Company 2 required much more focus and skill than MW2 did. The weapons (mainly sniper rifles) were harder to use (bullet drop, large recoil, slow reloading), you could change your class in-game when respawning, and a wider range of tactics had to be used on the larger maps. The feeling of reward when getting a kill was much greater than in MW2.

I am personally not buying MW3, not because I think it will turn out to be terrible (which I don't), but because Battlefield 3 looks like it will be a much better game for me. I think both games will turn out to be very decent shooters, and I will rent MW3 occasionally.

There :)

MW3, from the videos ive seen, looks pretty much like black ops, Which looked just like MW2. If you own MW2, or Cod4, then I dont see any reason to buy the game. I mean the campaign is only going to be like 6 hours long, like the previous games, so there isnt much single player appeal. DLC will be pricy, and this whole premium service thing sounds real expensive.

What im trying to say is, dont just buy it because it has the COD badge on it. wait for it to come out, do some research and make up your mind.

Early DLC is free with pre-order for BF3 :muah: Single player appeal and storyline is not what sells a game for me, and I think I speak for the majority of gamers, casual and, well, me  If I want a good storyline, I'd read a decent Sci-Fi novel. Original and non-predictable storylines are nearly if not already exhausted for FPS games, but the physics and content are getting better and better, which IS what sells a game for me :)

I'll be getting it.  But sorry Alpha, it will be full of quickscopers, hopefully not noobtubers.  But quckscoping will return.  No doubt about it.

Totally getting MW3. Sorry BF3!

After watching the multiplayer trailers I'm slightly disappointed in MW3. If I hadn't known otherwise, I would've thought it was just DLC for MW2. The gameplay was cool and all, but it was just more of the same. Hopefully the finished product is a little different...

Hello, fellow BFM forums members, this is L°§tMyMiNÐ.

Yeah, I think I'm getting Battlefield 3 instead of Modern Warfare 3, when I get the chance, because, even though I actually like Modern Warfare 2 (and Call of Duty 4 even more), it kinda gets old after a while, and, yeah, it doesn't really seem like Modern Warfare 3's going to be too different from Modern Warfare 2. However, I have seen actual Alpha gameplay footage from Battlefield 3, and, though I won't be getting it on the PC due to inadequate specs, I will still try to get it on the Xbox 360, since what I've seen from both the campaign and multiplayer looks to me to be just flat-out awesome.

Well, there's my two cents.

2c

And I'm off.

I'll be getting MW3 first but I'll definately be getting BF3 aswel I would be getting BF3 first but I'm getting MW3 to do all the spec ops on vet.
So when it comes out and you need a hand give you a yell and I can link you to the video.
What does everyone think of Survival Mode? How many rounds do you think there will be?

I think there'll be 50 rounds but it seems EPIC!!!

I will NOT be getting MW3. The gameplay is the same as every COD. They have done nothing to improve core gameplay. Yes, the campaign for Black OPs, MW2, COD 4 is alright, but the multiplayer is all the same. The currency system in black ops was the biggest change in the multiplayer they have done. Plus, it wont have zombies, witch is the ONLY reason I would even get black ops.

Getting GOW3, Halo 4, and the Halo Anniversary WAYYYY before MW3

Anyway, thats my  2c

It's getting to the point where I think they're gonna start running out of fresh content.

MW2 wasn't that good, so I'm not really expeceting this to be any better. Which is why I won't be purchasing it  :siderofl:

Actually super pumped for this. Also found out that JB HiFi are doing a deal where you can trade in one game for it as long as it is on their list.  One of the games included is NBA 2K12 (which I recently acquired for trading in CoD: WaW, Halo 3: ODST and NBA 2K11) which I will be trading. I didn't like 2K12 as much as 2K11, and I still have 2K10, so I figured I would trade it for MW3.

Myself and about 4 other friends are going to commit to the 8am release. Earliest I've ever been up to buy a game lol.

I'm looking forward to the release a LOT.

The game should be as fun or funner than MW2, which is perfectly fine with me :D

BF3 is lots of fun, but there are times when I don't want to rely on my teammates so much, and an arcadeish style shooter like CoD is great for that

Okay, so I've been playing MW3 multiplayer... for..... uhm....     6, 7 hours straight.

And I'm loving every minute of it!

The graphics are slightly better than MW2, but where MW3 REALLY shines is in the new weapons, the strike packages, and the balance of all of the weapons against each other. (At least so far)

Weapons: Shotguns are a primary class again. WOOOOOOOT. The Spas-12 is still awesome as a shotgun with a medium sized range when ADS, however it's not completely OP as if you miss, or they are farther away than a few feet it will most likely take 2 shots to kill someone, 3 if they are somewhere between mid and far away.
The assault weapons are pretty good, though to be honest I've mostly been playing with my shotties. (Those of you who played when we played CoD4 a lot know my favorite class :P)

Strike Packages: This is a great addition to the game imo. You have Assault, Support and Specialist.

Assault is what everyone's used to, blah blah blah. Most of the kill streaks are pretty great at getting kills, but they reset when you die.
Specialist is pretty neat too, lets you unlock more perks as you get kills, different perks unlock at different killstreaks, even if they are in the same category. (You can choose 3)
Support is one of the coolest ones I've seen. It's amazing for a rusher like me, as it doesn't reset upon death, and theres a few kill streaks that can net you some kills if used right.
One of the funnest was the Boobytrapped Care Package, I've gotten up to 4 kills with one, with some clever manipulaton. (Pretending to grab it but getting killed while getting it, which is great cause the streak doesn't reset upon dead) Can also use a stealth bomber, and can also use a Osprey supported care package kill streak.

Also, so far I've yet to find an over powered gun. The shotguns are pretty good, but on an open map you'll get ahnniliated if they catch you in the open, and on close maps the range is short enough that it's usually a 2 shot kill for most of them. The snipers can quickscope still, though the power is down low enough that you have to get a solid body shot to 1 shot someone. The assault and SMGs are nice, UMP is still pretty good. They have nice power and clip size.

Really, I'm enjoying the multiplayer to pieces. It's definitely the second best multiplayer CoD game, if not better than CoD4, but I'm holding my breath to see what they higher level weapons are like.

Imo you should buy it if you like fast paced action multiplayer with balanced guns and kill streaks. But hey, that's just my opinion :P

Must say it is quite awesome. Currently level 55 in multiplayer. I've also done a bit of campaign and spec ops.

Quickscoping is back!

I'm going to wait a long time to get this.  I played it for upwards of an hour on my friend's system and hated it.  From what I've heard, the UI stinks for PC and this is a game geared for consoles.  Instead I'm buying (I know I'm really late to the party) BF:BC2 for PC because it's just 20 bucks for PC and everyone I've talked to loves it more than COD.

At least we've still got COD4 which can never be beat :D

 Go ahead IW... Try...

Ive heard many bad things about MW3. On meta critic users are really giving it a beating, It has an average of about 2/10 over 400 odd ratings. All complaints are a 3 1/2 hour long single player mode, and a multiplayer mode that feels the same as MW2. People have been saying that the new maps are terrible, and the "COD elite" service is basically highway robbery for something that many other games give for free. there are error messages that come up on the PC that say things like MW2 has stopped working, Showing that it is what many belive it to be, a reskin of MW2. the frame rate is locked as well as the FOV as well. If Sledgehammer/infinity ward keep doing this to gamers then the community will hopefull turn thier back on them and force them to make a great game again like Cod4. Its sad to see a once great gaming franchsice turned into a cash cow and bieng sold by name alone. I have to say I dont think this is worth owing if you have Cod4 or Mw2. Im not a Battlefield fan by any strech of the imagination, Ive never owned a BF game, But from everything ive seen and heard, if your looking for a new shooter than it is probably the one to pick up

To be honest I don't know where all of these negative reviews are coming from. The campaign was long enough and quite epic, capping off the modern warfare series quite nicely. Currently level 72 in multiplayer and looking to prestige soon (I've played way too much of this game since Tuesday :P).

I think it's great. You'll notice that on that metacritic site the actual critics gave a rating in the high eighties.

It's not very different. It's very fun to play. Wasn't expecting anything else. I'm glad I didn't buy it, though. It's too expensive for not very much extra than what MW2 offered and delivered, not that the price stopped thousands of others :P They sure know how to make money, though, I'll give them that.

Its honestly the best of the cod series so far. Its taken the best parts of cod4, mw2 and blops and rolled into one, very polished package.

I'm also level 74 and will be prestiging. As to how far im not sure, the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th prestige badges are the best imo, 7th is a long way away though :\

Couldnt have said it better..... When i hit 14th Prestiege in blackops that game was dead boring whatever you wanna call it.... i dont believe MW3 will be like that (for me anyways).....Very good game.

Now that Call of Duty Elite appears to be fully functional, I've done a bit of exploring. I found a pretty cool feature in regards to the theatre mode. You can actually upload clips from your vault directly to your Youtube channel, eliminating the need for a capture card or HD PVR (talking about consoles here). I haven't tested it out yet but I probably will eventually. If you wanted to, you could get the clip from your channel, edit it using editing software than reupload it, say if you wanted to make a montage.

Oh and I only use the free version of elite, seems a waste of money to go premium.

Post by: Bleach on November 26, 2011, 06:34:16 PM
When you prestige you have a few options. Each prestige gives you a "Prestige Credit" which you can use in a few ways in the "Prestige Store"

You can unlock a special emblem/title banner, or you can get 2 hours of extra weapon XP or 2 hours of in game double xp, or you can get an extra create a class, OR (this is the coolest one imo), you can unlock a primary, secondary, lethal, tactical, or a selection of perks for create a class using your credit. (You permanantly get to keep the item through all of your future prestiges too. So if you like a gun that you unlock late in the leveling process, you can unlock it and use it at level 1 if you use the last option. (It's neat and awesome. Personally I unlocked C4 cause it's amazing)

To add to that, your guns return to level 1, your perks are no longer pro, etc etc. It is like starting at level 1 again. Although you unlock some prestige challenges which do not reset, while the others do. Such as weapon veteran challenges and others. Sitting on level 80 gets extremely boring, prestiging is the way to go.

I'm currently second prestige and unlocked the MSR early.

I bought the game and I kind of regret getting it.

The campaign was OK but I didn't get a feel to want to explore the story like I did with Blops.

The multiplayer..*cringes*.

Though the spec ops missions and survival is pretty fun! But no one else seems to play them though :(

I love this game :D I got it for Xbox about 3 weeks ago and I am currently Prestige 1 level 29. I have about a day and a half of gameplay :) When I prestiged I also bought the MSR, and next prestige I think i will be getting either the ACR or MP7. Awesome Guns!!

I Recommend this game to Everyone :D
