Well, it has finally happened. For the first time since 2007, we have a first-person Halo release on PC. And on Steam no less!
You can buy the entire Master Chief Collection, which includes Reach, for $40 right now. Alternatively, I've heard you can just grab Reach alone for the extremely reasonable price of $10.
The other titles in the collection aren't available yet, since they have to get ported over. The next one to be released will be Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, which may feel somewhat familiar to members of this forum. ::)
Let the good times roll!

Yep, downloading now!

Oh it's fun! I had tried playing Halo 2 on Kiwi Jr's Xbox, but I'm such a noob with an Xbox controller that I gave up. Really fun to play on PC.
I have a fairly low spec laptop, graphics card is just at the minimum standard, but game plays smoothly.
Can't get audio through my bluetooth headphones - seems to be a common issue with the game thus far, lots of audio problems, but the rest is awesome.

Hmm, to buy or not to buy...?

I know, right? I played Reach on Xbox with my brothers a few years ago, and each moment was a drag. The controller was frustrating to use because the aiming is so imprecise. But on PC it's awesome! I'm really looking forward to playing it again tonight.

You know you wanna! :scrim:

I played it last night (which was a terrible idea because I had to get up at 4 to fly to Denver  )
It's fun! Had to remap a few controls. Vehicles handle really well using the mouse (sooooooo different to playing Reach on a console). It's very pretty too!
So now playing through the depressing campaign ::)
Looking forward to when they release Halo CE Anniversary. It'll be cool if you can switch between old and new graphics like on console :)

Tip: a lot of audio and other issues go away if you disable the anti-cheat when doing campaigns.

Is there such thing as online or multiplayer?

Is there such thing as online or multiplayer?
It does have multiplayer. Think there might be the odd connection problem, but I haven't researched it myself.
-
I friend told me about this being out and I immediately thought about the old days with y'all! Downloading right now.
-
Do they offer race on multiplayer ?
-
Someone mentioned a team race custom option being available for the PC version. Hope it comes true.
-
Have you guys tried the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary? It was just released. Is there race in the multiplayer?
-
Race is in the list of custom game modes in CEA.

Team race is an option, yes, however you have to invite your friends to play.
It's not like it used to be where you could just throw up a server and people would join.
From what I've read, 343 doesn't currently have any intention of adding a server list like the original had, or the ability to run private dedicated servers. I hope they change their mind, but it isn't looking promising, with the amount of work they have ahead of them with porting the other 4 games that are on the list.

As annoying as it is, that's extremely unlikely to happen any time in the near future, at least until the other games are out. There's a small chance it might be added as some kind of third party add-on thing eventually if they end up having very robust mod support. I'm not going to hold my breath, but if enough people ask for it for long enough maybe something will happen.
At this stage of things, I would happier with the situation if they added Race as a gametype you could queue for in public matches. That said, I've been enjoying the improved networking performance and new/returning playerbase in other gametypes and this is the most interesting thing to happen with this game and the Halo series generally in a long time.

Just having MCC come to the PC is a revitalization for me. I've always stunk when using the controllers on XBox, XBox 360, and XBox One when playing Halo and its successors. Life is bliss with mouse and keyboard.
I'm confident that deficiencies will be ironed out in due time once the community and modders get involved. Driving around in a loaded rocket hog is an experience like no other. :yesyes:
