Post by: Igor on September 04, 2008, 01:25:23 AM
Using Print Screen, Version 1.

- "Right Click" on your Halo icon.
- Select "Properties".
- Select the "Shortcut" tab.
- Look at the "Target" line.
- Edit the line like so, adding the red at the end:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe"
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -screenshot
NOTE: There is a "Space" between .exe" and -screenshot.
- Click "Apply" and "Ok"
- In-game, push the "Print Screen" button found on your keyboard. (Location may vary)

Prt Scrn
Sys Rq

The screenshots can be found in a folder in your Halo directory. (C:\Program Files/Microsoft Games/ Halo etc...

NOTE: Has been found to be unreliable, and hard to find the specific folder.

Using Print Screen, Version 2.

- In-game, push the "Print Screen" button found on your keyboard. (Location may vary)

Prt Scrn
Sys Rq

- Open a program where it is possible to view a copied image, like MS Paint.
- Hit "Ctrl + V" (Paste) and you will have the Image captured in game.

NOTE: This limits you to one screenshot at a time, and requires you to Alt + Tab out of game to "save" it.

Using X-Fire.

- Download and install Xfire (http://www.xfire.com/)
- Create an account and log in.
- Click the "Screenshot" tab.
- You will see where to either edit or view the current "Hotkeys" used to capture images.
- By default this is "Scroll Lock + S"
- In-game hit "Scroll Lock + S" to take a screenshot,
- Once out of game you should have options to either Upload or Cancel, Uploading makes it viewable on your profile. (Not recommended with profane ones)
- Clicking cancel will keep your screenshots, but will simply not upload them and keep them private.

NOTE: X-Fire and Halo (Window mode) do not mix well, and can pop up over your screen and become and pain.

Using Fraps.

- Download and install Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/)
- You can either get the free, trial version, or to record full length Videos and have more options, pay for the full version.
- Open Fraps.
- "Click" the "Screenshots" tab.
- Change the "Screen Capture Hotkey" if you desire.
- Also change the "Folder to save screenshots in" or create a new folder and do the same.
- In-game, simply hit your chosen hotkey, and after your all done, the screenshots will be in the selected folder.

NOTE: With the trial version, you can only save as a .bmp with the full you may save as a .jpg or .png

There are a few other ways and programs you can use to take screen captures in-game, other programs such as HoverSnap (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hoversnap.html)
Also there are unique ways to take screenshots on a Mac.
If you have another method of taking screenshots, and wish to include it here, either for Mac's, HoverSnap or another, please send me a PM (http://www.bfmracing.net/forums/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=88) with a tutorial in a similar format, and I shall include it.
Any issues, also please PM me.
To upload your screen captures, you can follow the tutorials found Here (http://www.bfmracing.net/forums/index.php/topic,20556.msg150377.html#msg150377)

Ya, screens captured via the internal Halo method are in the proprietary "Targa" [ .tga ] format.

They can be converted to a "more normal/common" format - such as JPG or BMP - via importing into and saving with GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).
