Ok the good news, the car is in decent shape, interior is immaculate and the engine is NOT siezed.

Bad news, it has some kind of wiring problem... I traded the 06 battery for the new one out of my Z and it drained it flat in under 10 mins.

I went through the receipts in the glove box(going back to 06) and it appears that they security system malfunctioned and instead of repairing it, the people bypassed it. Ya, sure enough I found where the security wires were cut and the entire fuse/relay had been bypassed. Quite honestly just from looking at that alone, it tells me that someone messed some wiring up.

Next tidbit, engine is JDM transplant, not USDM, meaning the engine does in fact have 94k miles on it and the chassis around 146k.
Included in the glovebox was the original bill of sale where the owner I bought it off from, bought it from someone else for the sum of 4100 dollars.

Car appears to have upgraded KYB shocks in the front, CAI intake and hardpipes and other than the 350z rims I could spot no other mods.

I will be having a local Z mechanic come out to the house this week to give it a look over and figure out what the heck is going on.
I put my battery in, put the window down(cause I figured power would work fine?) and then it killed my battery, couldnt get the window back up and had to tape it up before I left. Battery is on charger overnight.

If your battery gets killed THAT fast, it sounds like there's a HARD-CORE short in your wiring somewhere. If I could, I'd look it over for ya. :)

Not sure what it was, didnt do it today. Though when I turned the key I got a "cluuuuung" from the flywheel...which tells me something is locked up D:

Moar work to do this weekend ^_^

Seems that this car has more little kinks than you would think :P By the sound of it though shouldn't be anything major.

Love the number plate on the white car ::)
Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on April 08, 2009, 06:37:13 PM
That sound of the flywheel could be a few.... things.

Scenario #1

Engine overheated and the head gaskets blew, allowing fluid to leak into the internals and seize the engine. In which case the engine is a lost cause.

Scenario #2

Engine overheated and the rods/cams warped or broke causing the engine to seize. This could be repaired, but it would cost quite a bit to do so.

Ultimately if the engine can not be saved, I have a tranny and engine ready to be swapped from the white 92.

Now, since some people on vent said they would like to follow my wip D:

Here is what I have now for that car.
(http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/th_IMG_1646_1600.jpg) (http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/IMG_1646_1600.jpg)
Light weight pulley kit by AMS, stock pulleys weigh near 16lbs on their own, these way a mere 2.5lbs total.

(http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/th_IMG_1647_1600.jpg) (http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/IMG_1647_1600.jpg)
This is most of the brake kit I was talking about on vent, not shown are the front rotors since they are a week behind.
Included in the above are; Brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors, zinc coated; AMS Carbon Ceramic brake pads, front and rear; Stainless Steel brake lines, nylon coated; Speed bleeders for the lines; Brake booster brace; Super Blue Racing fluid.
Also shown are 3 new underdrive pulley belts and a fuel filter.

Detail of rotor

Subframe Collars, these take up the slack in the subframe caused when the OEM bushings start to degrade and disintegrate. This can greatly reduce wheel hop and stiffen the suspension.

rofl, it's staying a VG30DE thanks. Already had people try to get me to put a small block chevy in it and I'm like... If I put any engine other than the Fairlady engine, it would be the RB26, not a chevy.

Looks like a fun drive.  But don't forget to respect your elders, remember the mighty 180!!

... a Z is the slang for a 300zx or any car in the Fairlady family(240, 260, 280, Z31, Z32, 350, 370)

Or as car talk would put it, the 18 oz.

I remember my old Toyota had a nasty short in it that kept burning out the fuse for my running lights.  Looked and looked through the wiring harnesses lights and everything but couldn't find anything.  Finally discovered it was a bare wire shorting against, you'll love this, the metal rod on the sun visor.  It was the silly vanity/make-up light that was burning up fuses.

Post by: IamaCamper on April 11, 2009, 06:16:47 PM
That short is a pretty nasty one.  If you are not getting a hint of smoke I would test out the starter.  A dragging starter can drain a battery that fast.
Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on April 14, 2009, 06:39:01 AM
Charged the battery right up, and havnt had that noise since... Simply not ever heard that noise before though.

First thing I did was replace the starter when I saw the engine wasnt starting, the starter I took off was not OEM but it still didnt solve the problem.

Hopefully Ill get to work on the car this week, keep getting put off and things keep coming up. At least I should have the title in my name and the tag transfered from the white Z to the blue one by this week or next.

Everything so far.

(http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/th_IMG_1667_1600.jpg) (http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/IMG_1667_1600.jpg)
Detail of front rotors, 4 hole compared to 3 hole of the rear, which is the difference in rotor size. Fronts are roughly 50mm larger than the rear.

(http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/th_IMG_1668_1600.jpg) (http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/dewdadew2006/Vehicles/My%20300zx%20Z32/IMG_1668_1600.jpg)
Detail of the veins, these will greatly increase the cooling of the rotors and prevent fade. The stock rotors do not have this.

My strut bar got delayed because the driver apparently couldnt figure out the address.... I even called Fedex to verify and she quoted me back the correct shipping address, so... >_>

Coilovers came in ^_^

They are beaaaautiful.

Also, exhaust system is in....but way too heavy to lug 1/4 mile back to my room, thus I will be picking it up tomorrow when my parents bring the jeep.

Aaaaand that is all the parts I ordered except for the adjustable suspension components, I already spoke with Charles @ Powertrix and he said he is waiting on one component to the front set and he will send them out, shouldnt be more than another week or two on that.

Going to stop typing now...arms hurt from lugging those back 1/4 mile >_<

^_^

Well, I managed to get quite a bit done today. I started to disasemble the 92 and transfer parts to the 90. I also started removing parts around the 92's engine to prep for the swap, first thing was the radiator. Sure enough removing it told me that it did in fact need to be replaced. The shear amount of rust...and 'objects' that came out of it, was not pretty.
Foglamps, turn signals removed, next up is the brake cluster. Will start on interior shortly.

Long post is looooong ._.

Loks like quite the project for ya. Where do those squiggly things (headers?) go?

Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on April 27, 2009, 10:15:11 AM
Yup it is indeed.

The headers mount to the sides of the engine where the exhaust leads out, then it goes to the catalytic converters and then the resonator and mufflers.

I think I worded my query incorrectly. v.v Hrm... let me just say it plainly. >.>

What are you going to do with it after you get done installing everything?
Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on June 30, 2009, 01:42:00 PM
For now it will just be my daily driver again, but I plan to take it to track days and such when the race track holds those events.

Next on my mod list, to purchase and install are these.
High Flow Cats (http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_19&products_id=1528)
Upgraded Throttlebodies (http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_18&products_id=1911)

aaand at some point...
ECU Upgrade (http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_21&products_id=883)
ECU upgrade will remove governor, increase rev limit and increase fuel efficiency.

My Z was my daily driver and I need her back, so once the repairs get started here in a week or two, I should have her back in about 4-6 weeks.

Still progressing, car was delivered to a Subaru dealer tonight, the alignment will be done tomorrow morning. The alignment is extensive, around 8-9 hours apparently because of the adjustable parts, so it will take most of the day to complete.
The difference is once this is done, this car will handle perfectly and predictably compared to before.

The mechanic is going to do some more work to the car after they get it back, apparently the car is losing some pressure in the transmission when it goes to shift and is bouncing off the limiter once or twice before shifting. They are going to attempt to fix that tomorrow.

If this progresses at current, the car will be driven to me on Friday and I will have pictures asap.

Also, mechanic confirmed that the Z has been dropped 1.5" lower from the coils alone.

Night shots, sorry it's dirty, I promise to wash it SOON.

Performance is...omg....compared to the white one, crap....
Mash the throttle and it puts you into the seat and you're up to 60mph in around 6-7 seconds

Wide open, it's hitting around 90mph in the 1/4. I went out to the airstrip and fooled around...

The sound is.....just...AMAZING, it's so deep and no rasp... and at idle 3-4k revs the sound is just deafening ^_^

VIDS SOON, MORE PICS SOON.

Possibly have a video Monday or later... I'm off work Tuesday, so it'll most likely be then.

Took a few low angle shots with lights on, but the light reflecting made it almost impossible to focus.

Heh, today I got to go down some gravel roads in the Mustang. It's so much fun to drift. = ) Plus, the feel of counter steering.... -dies- Amazing. Since I don't have any money to replace the tires I don't try to power slide or peel out even if it just rained. For me, gravel is really the only surface that I'll drift on, till I get some money to replace tires. xD

There's just something about the back end of your car sliding out as you go around a curve.

I got too much grip to break the tires loose >:c
I seriously went through a large puddle and floored it on purpose just to break the rear out, because with the suspension system and mods installed.... I just cant get the rear out :(

Thanks Tai

Will take pictures of the engine bay later, I also got it detailed and the 20yo plastic looks brand freaking new, I am shocked...

That paint was shot, water marks all over, scratches and marks in the paint, overspray from whoever painted it, ect....

Sat there watching them for the entire three hours, just ._.

After.

Alright started reupholstering my interior...

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0701_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0701_1600.jpg)
This is the old center console, the plastic is cracked and the fabric is... 'crunchy' no real other way to describe it.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0702_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0702_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0704_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0704_1600.jpg)
Old foam compared to the new stuff, the old foam is physically powderizing  after I took the fabric off.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0706_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0706_1600.jpg)
Bought some epoxy and wire mesh to fix the center console, worked quite well actually.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0708_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0708_1600.jpg)
This is where I'm at now, applying the fabric and new foam to the plastic lid. After about 30 mins of playing with glue and the foam, I got it to stick...
Little less time with the fabric since it bonded right to the foam, the foam didnt want to bond to the plastic.
Working on wrapping it neatly right now, that silver piece under it is the backside of a piece of material that failed. I'm not so good at this, but it is going better the second time around. Learning from mistakes and all.

Finished while I was sitting 'idle' at my computer.
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0709_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0709_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0710_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0710_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0711_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0711_1600.jpg)
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0712_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0712_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0713_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0713_1600.jpg)

Certainly doesnt look like a pro's job, but it looks decent and feels a lot better than that cloth.
Here are some pics of it mounted in place, you can see the difference between the seats that WERE black at one point and the console. That and the fabric interior looks like junk compared to it. :l

Sadly I can't run it on the strip, owner wont have it.

Took everyone's advice at 3zc and took it back to the detailer to ask about it.

The owner was there this time and I asked if there was something he could do to get the swirls out of my paint aaaand he was all "swirls....?"
Dude got a bit angry at the work someone had done to my car, mainly sealing it before ever buffing it and leaving all those marks in the paint.

I got the paint buffed out for nothing, so I didn't have to do anything.

Few pics for now.

Yeah, the paint looks much better. When i saw the before pics, the swirls really stood out. It looks like a deeper finish now. Looks good. Cant wait to see it in the daylight.

Here is what my tires look like lol...
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0859_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0859_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0858_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0858_1600.jpg)
F Left/F Right
Roughly 60%+ tread left.

Now...the rears...
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0856_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0856_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0857_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0857_1600.jpg)
Left R/Right R

Now if you can believe those had tread on them as for 4 days ago... Course this also let me know my Camber is off on my left rear, if you notice the uneven wear on the outer wall. I believe that control arm is warped and the Camber was off by .5 degrees.

I think I should express how good the detailing job was...the car is so dark that reflections are really illusionary...

Note the clouds in the paint, this is after having it washed, waxed, wet sand, buff, seal, buff... ._.

Now for some good shots during the day finally.

Now I will be getting two new Nexon 3000 225/45ZR17s on Monday, those will be going to the front and the 235/50ZR17s are going to the rear. I will also be raising the chassis up 1/2" till I can get the fenders rolled to prevent the rubbing.
Once those 235s are shot I will put another 2 Nexons on depending on how well they handle.

Tread detail of the Nexons

These are Y rated(180mph) tires with a 340AA tread rating.

Also will be getting an HKS ALC(Automatic Line Controller) this week, had already made arrangements with the guy before my tires decided to wear out... >_>

Ill be paying 150 for the unit.

More on Monday.

Thankies

Did some researching the past few nights trying to figure out what is with the tires and discovered the problem is the tires are out of spec entirely.
The rims and tires(235/50s) the sidewall height is higher than the stock 225/50R16s, this is causing the toe and camber to get thrown off and wear the tires faster.
I have been looking at tire sizes and the closest to spec with rims are 225/45R17s, which are off by .49% compared to 245/40R17s at .57%, the 235s are 5.3% off.... This is also making my spedo be off by about 5mph which explains why everything seems slower than it is.

SO, I will be going down to 225/45ZR17s tomorrow on the front, and when the rears burn out Ill replace them as well. Also be replacing that LCA in the rear, since apparently you dont have to drop the subframe or remove the shock, I'm wondering where I read that you had to...

Anyway, the main problem was the tires to begin with, then in combo with dropping the car and those being too tall, ya excessive rubbing and wear.

Got the tires this morning, full inch shorter than the Falkens.

The mechanic however wouldnt do the alignment because my rear bearings are going out. The driver side has a bit of play, passenger side has some play...

So, will need to replace both the Falkens and wheel bearings next.

As much play as the driver side has, it is probably throwing the entire alignment off that Koby's put on it. It also explains the snap I have been feeling through turns.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0865_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0865_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0875_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0875_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_0874_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_0874_1600.jpg)
Slight difference here...note the treads and height on the car.

Side note: I'm glad I didn't drop the car the full 2" because it wouldnt have made it on the alignment rack, it missed scraping by literally a millimeter... :l

So spent 250 on tires today, will need another two for the rear which will be about 290(wider profile) and then bearings are going to be 360 including labor...I'm so broke...

Now on cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3390902

HKS Automatic Line Controller purchased for 150usd, retail at 330usd.
Should have that by the end of this week.

Going to a car meet this Sunday, don't know how the Z is going to handle the interstate with my Camber so far off, car seems to shake at 60mph+ and I normally do 80mph on the interstate, so...

After looking at the VIN register and all my Z's info it appears my odometer has been rolled backwards a good 45,000 miles, though I havnt a clue why considering the shape the car was already in.

VIN Lookup Information
Model Year:     1990
Manufactured:     0389
Exterior Color:     TH1 (Dark Blue)
Interior Color:     B (Blue)
Model Code:     KRLZ32XAUBGHW

Model Information Decoding
Roof:     T-Tops
Engine:     non-turbo
Transmission:     automatic
Emissions:     Federal
Air Bags:     none
Seating:     2 seater
Trim Level:     GLL
Stereo:     Bose
Climate Control:     Automatic
Seat Surface:     Japanese leather

According to the DMV the car was last clocked at 146k and it currently rests at 96k.
New engine and drivetrain so I really don't care *shrugs*
The ODD thing is the production date is March 1989, but its VIN is a 1990 issue... They're not supposed to dooo thaaaat.

Rear wheel bearings are next on the list of things to buy, need 360 for it and should have within the next month or two. Then two 245/40ZR17s which is an upgrade from the 235s and also 1" shorter.

I got bored at 2am other night, waxed and hand buffed her... >_>
Honestly, I think it looks better after I hand buffed it than when the 'professional' did it... :l
Anyway, pics.

This set has a little better shot of the rear treads, which you can see the width well.

After that I chased down a Super White TT Z32 I saw blow by, had to go up to 80 to catch him rofl... He had a TT front bumper, flared fenders(custom work), flushmount rear spoiler w/TBL and was not dropped yet. His exhaust looked odd, so I'm thinking straight pipes.
Pulled along side him, he asked if mine was turbo and I said nope, and after that he didnt seem too interested, so no pictures >_>

Bearing assemblies ordered, I got with a mechanic here in town and got a 20 dollar discount per bearing at autozone, so I went ahead and ordered them.

Looking at 109 per bearing, and 150 labor, so about 368 bucks to get the car fixed and itll still need an alignment.
Then next week I'm also going to Mobile to grab a set of 235/4517s that a local import shop is holding for me, they got 60% tread left and he quoted me 50 bucks.

By the end of this month, I'm going to be negative 70 bucks in my bank account...give or take, but at least my car will be fixed and I wont be going through a set of tires every WEEK....

I will also mention that tentative of this repair, my car will be going to get Dyno'd on the 12th of December, there is also going to be a large car meet there, so expect pics.
Also Powertrix just released their pre-production info on the front strut bar, group buy starting now and ends December 1st.
Price of 125 for the front bar, 75 dollar discount off normal cost.

Looks like things are turning back around slowly.

Also selling my torque wrench, need to $$$ >_>

RAR progress

We got it out, took 4+ hours to the left side, a puller, hammer, and a saline torch heating the bearing for it to pop off.
BASICALLY the area was corroded and covered in rust, so the shaft was jammed in the splines and so was the bearing to the hub.

Pictures of the mess for hahas

New bearing assembly.

If you can believe I was going through a set of tires a week on the rear of that car because of the bad bearings....

In the second image you can see the rust all in the shaft.

Axle shaft itself

Covered in rust all over the splines, which is why it took so long and so much effort to get the thing off.

The bearing also didnt want to come off the hub in the press, and it fell apart when it was pressed off.
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1174_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1174_1600.jpg)
The wraith ended up sticking to the hub and we had to cut it off with a torch, and then submerge the hub in ice water.

I went to the shop this morning at 8:30 to do a 3 hour job total on the bearings, and ended up not leaving till well after 1600.
It took over 4 hours to just pop the left side off, repeatedly heating the bearing with the torch, impacting the puller and hitting it with a 5lb sledge, finally after 4 hours it popped out.
The passenger side? Came straight off... we all just cracked up laughing when the impact knocked it clean out in one drive.
Spent the rest of the time getting the bearings pressed out, cutting the wraith off and pressing the new bearings into place.

I however know how to completely disassemble that rear of the car and I got a job at the mechanic's LOL
I start there next Sunday.

Results after the fact.. My handling in the Z before was downright sloppy in turns and even going straight the car was squirrely, if I hit a bump the entire car rocked to both sides.
After replacing the bearing I immediately noticed smoother acceleration, and absolutely NO squirreliness in a straight line, and turns are smooth and accurate. I just cant describe how much better it feels replacing those things. I'm honestly kinda shocked that something so small could cause such a performance problem...

Now that I got this part fixed I can put fresh tires on and actually start repairing other things, my god... spent like 200 bucks in tires for the rear alone in the past 2 months for used tires, kept burning through them like butter.

Wow, I can understand the performance and handling issues, but I'm a little surprised at the tire wear.  I guess if they were used tires to begin with though...  But WTG with the new job, hope it works out for you well!

Lol! "Cute little car" I'm sure that Mr. Z really wants to hear that. Too bad you don't have a turbo in it, yet. = )

Glad to hear that the bearings are fixed now. I'd love to get a job as a mechanic, but I don't know much about disassembling/reassembling cars. v.v I'm definitely willing to learn though!

Either way, congrats man. Enjoy that car for me. -nods- = )

But wait, theres more!
OOOOOOOOK Got the Z aligned today, who wants to see the WORST alignment EVER?!

This is the BEFORE readings, and anyone that has played Forza or at least has a concept on camber/caster/toe will see something wrong here...
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1200_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1200_1600.jpg)
If you cant read it sideways, here are the readings...

Front Left:
Camber: -1.6*
Caster: 8.5*
Toe Out: -0.04*

Front Right:
Camber: -1.8*
Caster: 9.2*
Toe Out: -0.03*

Left Rear:
Camber: -3.0*
Toe In: 0.21*

Right Rear:
Camber: -2.6*
Toe In: 1.34*

While the fronts are not THAT far out of alignment, the rears are WAY off.
OE spec call for 1.6 Positive to 1.6 Negative Camber and Toe should be In at 0.10 Positive, my camber was over 2.5 negative on either side, and the right rear was turned in so much the mechanic thought my HICAS was out of alignment...till he realized I didnt have HICAS...

Now remember those 265/40ZR17s I just put on a week ago?
(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1195_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1195_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1196_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1196_1600.jpg)
Left Side

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1197_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1197_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1199_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1199_1600.jpg)
Right Side

I had steel radial exposed on both sides, one tire had the core exposed and was at point of a blow out, had to replace it.
I now have 225/45ZR17 on all four corners, Nexon 3000 Front and Pirelli Rear.

Now, alignment AFTER.

Front Left:
Camber: -1.9* (OE -1.6 to -0.1) This reading was -1.6 before putting the pins back in the alignment rack.
Caster: 9.0* (OE 9.0 to 10.5)
Toe: .05* (OE 0.00 to 0.09)

Front Right:
Camber: -1.6
Caster: 9.0
Toe: 0.03

Left Rear:
Camber: -1.4* (OE -1.6 to -0.6)
Toe: 0.11* (OE 0.00 to 0.19)

Right Rear:
Camber: -1.2 Reading was -1.4 before putting pins back into alignment rack.
Toe: 0.06 Reading was 0.10 before.

NOW, I have to say...that I clearly have NEVER had a Z in proper aligment, because I had no idea it handled so WELL. I left the shop and immediately floored the gas, car took off like it never has before, first 90* turn I took was rated at 15mph, took it at 40mph and barely and give to the tires, came to another turn and took it near 50mph. I am amazed to be honest, the car handled great before...for the alignment being that FAR out of spec and now it's like an entirely different car altogether...

I cant really explain it, but the acceleration is even different, it's like before the car had something holding it back or slowing it's acceleration, but now it just takes off... I was curious the other day when someone said a NA could do 0-60 in 7s with decent mods while mine was around 9s... I will say that mine is now in the correct range.

People I cant urge you enough, if you have bad bearings, REPLACE THEM, and get the car aligned, my god...

Ah, that's were all that tire wear was coming from.  With the camber that far out (or in?) the tire wasn't able to lay evenly on the road surface.  Not to mention putting the power down.  It's like trying to run on only the outside edge of your shoes.  And the toe in, wow.  That right rear tire was literally fighting against the forward momentum of the car by trying to push it left at the rear.  No wonder it was squirrely.  I'm not surprised that the difference in handling and acceleration is night and day from before the alignment.  Makes me think I should go have it done on my little toy car.

*addendum*

Does your car have any kind of traction control?  I wonder if drive tires that far out of alignment could cause the traction control sensors to go haywire and effectively limit your acceleration.

Post by: Jä× on November 29, 2009, 10:32:00 PM
The only electronic system on the car is the ABS module, which is why I like it. No stability, no traction, no launch control, just engine and wheels ;p

Lets put it this way, the way the car felt before...I was afraid to push the car past 80mph(128kph) because it shook so bad, and in the past three days I have put it up to 90mph(144kph) several times with barely any shake. If I can find a long enough road around here... I'm gonna break the 100mph mark ^_^
Course I am by no means encouraging anyone to break certain road laws *cough* >_>

Next thing on my list is to get test pipes fabricated so I can remove my catalytic converters and start running 100 octane.

Ugh as I was informing Joker over xfire earlier tonight, my Z is currently acting up.

The car will not shift out of second gear without a lot of pushing the engine and fourth will not engage at all.
More/less the car cant go over 45mph without passing 5k revs and eating gas like crazy, spent a 1/4 tank on a 45 minute drive which is utterly ridiculous.

Going to work on the Z some today, dunno if I can fix it myself but heck if I'm not gonna try. Pretty sure it's my throttle position sensor or TPS, if it's out of spec...it can cause a host of problems including what I'm experiencing, and so can the band adjustment bolt on my transmission's bellhousing. Anyway, more later.

Broke out a voltmeter and ran it on the TPS, was slightly out of spec.
(.49~4.10), I adjusted it to (.43-4.00) and tightened the bolt down, it slid to (.42~3.99).
Can't say I noticed a difference driving it after the fact, car still acting up.

HOWEVER, TCU returned 1-10, Revolution Sensor.
Did a little more searching and found that people have experienced the exact same symptoms and problems with this error code, so it's probably it.

Now about getting it fixed? lol..

This was my daily driver Super, not just my project car, so for now I'll be borrowing my dad's Jeep.

Looking like my trans has bit the dust, great possiblity that it was already on its way out and when I installed the new line controller it only hastened the thing's death.

I am looking into now a Infinity J30 transmission swap, the wiring is a bit different but it's otherwise a complete bolt on and they are never pushed because the J30 isnt a sportscar, while Z32s trans are pushed daily and have a lot of wear.

J30 trans runs around 3-500 bucks for one, plus labor to drop trans and install new one, plus rewiring.
Gonna be around 6-700 bucks to repair.

Sorry to hear that your tranny's gone. Hopefully that J30 trans will work out better for ya. Ionno much about transmissions, or repairing cars for that matter, but from your details it seems like a good fit. = )

Good luck man.

J30 on hold atm....reasons...

I've had two people contact me after posting an add on 300zxclub for a used trans, one is rebuilt with 12k on it and the owner is close enough to drive it over. The other has 60k original miles and can ship it. Both are around 300 bucks and because it's the same model trans I can drop and install it all myself.

Might have the Z running again next week or so.

Cute..

Will be buying a rebuilt NA Auto trans w/ rebuilt torque converter and upgraded internals.
Having the same shop that did my engine swap work on it, going to be around 500 bucks for labor and w/e parts.
Trans is going to cost about 340 bucks.

My best estimate is around 800, but will probably be 1000-1500 in the end, and this means the Z wont be driven till January or February at the easiest and possibly March.
I find it ironic since I had planned to move cross country by April... and my transmission decided to die now right before my move.

Anyway the Z is currently sitting parked, my Ebrake is dead and the battery cable had been cut, both of which were sabotage by a previous mechanic to promote more work for him to do... Had it been done to someone with little knowledge of their car it might have worked, but I tend to notice cables just being CUT randomly.

Bump from the dead.

Well things got very busy here RL for some time, to the point I was working two jobs and 96+ hours a week.

Lot of things to update regarding this thread...
I did NOT get another auto, I instead converted the car to manual, and had 120k maintenance and new injectors put in. I should be getting the car back today and moving within the next few days, so in the next few weeks I should be re-applying for BFM once I get settled cross country at my new home.

Woot for the car finally running! Glad to hear that you'll be returning to BFM soon-ish. = ) About the saboteur... a lot of mechanics will do that, it's horrible. You trust someone to fix your car, then the next thing you know you need new battery cables, your ball bearing goes out, and there's a leak in your fuel line.... My mom has had some bad experiences with mechanics in the past...
Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on September 26, 2010, 12:52:24 AM
Well we got to NM, but it was less very eventful. I would have taken pictures, but there honestly wasnt anything worth taking pictures of across the states....

So heres the playback.

Got 167 miles away and my waterpump siezed, the pulley sheared off the pump and took 3 of the bolts with it. With nothing to hold the fan on it sliced into my radiator and perforated it, and apparently burned the fan clutch up... as well as shredding the shroud.
That all took 3+ days to get the parts replaced and the car running again. He had a radiator, fan clutch and water pump all in 15 minutes, but the pulley NO ONE had in stock, so we had to overnight it from Z1. The pulley got there the next morning, we got it on and were gone by lunch. Course the only reason we had to overnight a part from Z1 is because the Nissan Dealership  in New Orleans messed up and failed to order the pulley and by the time they did, it wouldnt arrive till Monday.

Now that mess dealt with, we left with a new Koyo Dual Core Radiator, waterpump, fanclutch and pulley.

Got 300 miles away and my car started to shake like I had a flat tire(somewhere outside Baton Rouge), pulley over into the rest area and as soon as I stopped one of my lug BOLTS fell out of the wheel... it had snapped clean off at the hub. I have never seen a bolt do that before, guessing it was overtightened. To top it off there was only one good bolt holding the wheel on, the other was loosened to the point it was almost falling off.
Ya... so that wheel coming off at 75mph+ would have been very bad.

That all aside, nothing else happened after that... kept driving for 20 hours, filling up every 300 miles... and ya.. need an alignment now, the roads in Louisiana and Texas were TERRIBLE. I swear a few roads in Louisiana caused my car to leave the pavement... terrible roads..

Coolant sprayed EVERYWHERE when the radiator blew, going to be a pain to clean it all up. Had to cut the shroud back to remove the fan when it fell down into the bay.

Z is running great though, after all that mess she's running stronger than since I bought her, so... lessons learned and finally enjoying my Z >_>
Hopefully can start on further maintenance and cosmetics now.

Found a little parking garage near the airport here in Albuquerque and decided to take some pictures.

Ya my rear fascia is two toned because I ripped the veilside crap off it, yet to repaint it. Car is still dirty from driving 1400 miles, but heck if I was going to pass up the chance to take some pictures. Still waiting on my new vanity plate lol

So after all that mess, getting settled in at my new home, so might be reapplying in a few once I find a job or two.

Ah no, went through there around 12am and there were still cars everywhere through Dallas, very unnerving.

The roads crossing over from Tennessee to Arkansas, I think it's I-40 or I-55, horrible. You'll definitely need a realignment after them if you do ever travel on them. However, if you're trying to get to the Southeast USA then you can cross into Ohio for a split sec, then to Kentucky and take that to Tennessee, then to GA, if that's where you're going. If you're going to SC or NC then I imagine you'd already be taking that way.

Memphis roads are simply horrible in some parts though. I think I could probably fit my entire body into one of the potholes I narrowly avoided at 1AM.

And look on the bright side, you have a new radiator and all of that other stuff. xD As for the wheel.... it's not fun being sideways at 80 mph... at least on the interstate.

Just bought a new Twin Turbo alternator to replace the NA one, the TT alternator is 90amp and the NA is 80amp. Also got a battery charger so I can keep driving my car till I can replace the problem.

Alternator went out on my way to work today, both times I shifted to 4th gear my dash lit up like a christmas tree and I started backfiring like I was on a two step sytem. Looks like Ill be dipping farther into my overdraft today to get a jack and stands so I can change it immediately, as it is now I don't know if I can get home or not :\
Cars are  a love/hate relationship.... last few days have proved that with this car -.-'

I somehow got home yesterday with 11.5v on my battery, and it needs 13 to run, loved it for that.... I charged the battery all day, put it in the car tonight and she tried to die on the way to work, hated that....

Got the alternator changed, took me two plus hours using the wrong tools and doing it for the first time.

Old alternator was history, it clicked when you spun the pulley and grinded to a stop.

New alternator is in and no problems, now to work on tires for the rear.

Edit: Took the old one to an O'Reilys auto parts to get the pulley pulled off, as the bolt wouldnt move at all for me... It took an impact wrench plus a puller to get it free. The pulley was completely off center which was causing the belt to gain/lose tension with every rotation, this in itself might have killed the alternator. The guy agreed with me that the bearings were history, the other people there were just like "wow that sounds lovely..." since they're not supposed to make any noise...

Z gets her first dyno run.
155rwp, 165lbtq @ 5500rpm
188rwp, 173lb tq Max

Car was running very lean, 15bar, if I had a adjustable fuel regulator it probably would have done much better, that and a ECU tune.

Performance Mods...

AMS Underdrive & Overdrive Pulleys
Labree 2+0 Stainless Exhaust w/ H Pipe Resonator
New 270cc Injectors
Stillen Cold Air Intake
Stillen Steel Headers
Koyo Dual Core Radiator, Anodized black
Z1 Motorsports 1pc Steel Driveshaft

After ECU and AFC I should be running 200rwp+ (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1778.jpg)

So it must never snow where you are, because that car is awfully low to the ground...

Mine is like 6-8 inches off the ground and I got stuck twice last year.

The Z is growin' on me. I thought it was kind of plain when I first saw it, now I think it looks pretty cool. The front is still kind of plain-looking though. What's the inside look like? I mean the seats and stuff, not the engine. :P

No Jane, it NEVER snowed in Alabama, at least in south Alabama. I am now in Albuquerque which is virtually a plateau on a mountain that is almost entirely desert. So it gets cold here, but it doesnt snow that much I'm told and when it does it melts fairly quickly.

The seats in that picture are long gone, I swapped them for the leather seats that were in my 92 that got wrecked, so the seats are leather and not clothe. I've also swapped the interiors out, it's not longer blue cloth, it's not black suede also from the 92. Most of the trunk plastics are also black now, the blue ones were heavily cracked and broken in areas, despite some damage to the black ones... they were in much better shape.

The trunk is VERY missleading, it seems like there is a lot of trunk space but there really isnt. The trunk is about 2' deep, 4' wide, and 3' long. It was challenging packing most of my things into that when I moved.

Z is currently out of commission, after the voltage problems I've been having for the past few weeks it seems the alternator I just replaced shorted out. Sadly this happened while I was on my way to work, and literally less than halfway there. A cop just happened to come along and was nice enough to push me the rest of the way to work, but I have no voltage, and if I try to connect the battery my master fusible link melts from the short.
I have already bought another alternator(used) to get it running again, at least until I can buy a new one in December or January. Don't exactly have money to throw into 260 dollar parts all the time, now on my third alternator.

The Z is currently sitting at work parked, since it does no good to connect the battery, I have zero voltage despite the battery having a charge. Can only guess that something died inside the alternator. Getting a ride to work atm, and walking home, should have the alternator in a few days.

Title: Re: Got my new Z D:
Post by: Jä× on November 24, 2010, 01:05:17 AM
It appears that my voltage regulator in the alternator itself burned out, and is causing too much current to flow through the lines, thus melting the 8 gauge copper line like candy.

Should have the alternator this week, and hopefully that fixes the problem, if not I have another problem entirely.

The Alternator has a nut that goes on the alternator bolt, that is inaccessible? Ya... Apparently I left a 9/16ths on that nut and it grounded the alternator to the chassis.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1871_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1871_1600.jpg)
Ya.... -_-

Lost my job today too \o/

Anyway, should be having a guy come today with another alternator, hopefully all I did was fry the alternator. Since the fusible kept blowing everything else should have been protected, I hope.

Fun week...

Well the guy that came over with the alternator was nice and helped me check my existing one, he had a working voltemeter \o/
Good news is the car has voltage again, car started fine, but the alternator is fried. Revved the engine to around 4-5k and no charge at all from it, so it grounding out fried it. I turned my lights on with the engine started and my dash went back to christmas tree status.

I have the new alternator, will install tomorrow and see if it charges.
Job search tomorrow too -_-

I moved across country to be with my girlfriend, I got that job the second week here.. had it since, already have a possibility of a new job, but IF I get it, it wont start till the week before Christmas. So I'm going to be without funds for a month... -_-
Looks like my 500 dollar credit line with Paypal will be getting used, along with my overdraft....

Installed my new alternator, fixed everything, car is running almost perfect again... Just got a missfire I need to track down, most likely an injector.

FTR Don't leave a wrench on the back of the alternator!!!!! I took it and had to tested at Oreily's and it failed every test instantly.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/th_IMG_1871_1600.jpg) (http://"http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/IMG_1871_1600.jpg")
el oh el...

Also fixed my short throw today... was driving and went to downshift into 1st... and my whole shifter lurched forward and wouldnt engage into 1st gear. Pulled over and tool my dash apart \o/
I somehow lost a bolt that held my shifter into place, there are two, pulled one of my thousands of spare bolts from my floorboard and drove home. Need to get a proper sized bolt tomorrow.

Texting and driving is TERRIBLE, I drove home ONCE and tried.... I nearly went off the road twice, never done it again.

While we are here on the subject of Illinois driving laws...

Went to Fierorama 2010 near St. Charles back in September with my Dad in his Fiero and me in mine.

It wasn't until after we got there that we realized Illinois had Emission Laws, and my Dads Fiero had no Catalytic Converter, and mine was basically running a 22 year old hollowed out Cat and Muffler (so basically straight pipes). Interesting drive home to say the least.  :scrim:

Anyway, just a funny story. No thread hijacking was intended.

Good luck^ they retail over 1 million usd at last check.

Replaced the missing bolt on my shifter today with a proper sized bolt with two lock washers on either side of the shifter, don't think I'll be having that happen again. Also somehow fixed my cig lighter... figured it didnt work for all these years ._.

Power balance tested, change for all 6 cylinders, so I'm getting fuel and spark... missfire is obviously an injector either not functioning properly or sticking open, which would explain the high idle at times. I knew this ethanol would kill my injectors... Will ohm them later, spent 2 hours cleaning my car out... had built up so much debris and garbage from the past 3 months it wasnt funny. Oh and my tool box is tied down now, no more falling over! Ttop strap came in handy for something finally.

New alternator is functioning 100% 14.1v at any RPM range, no deviations at all. Every alternator I had before would change from 12-15v at any given time.

Also got my job back today, fun week...

Worthy of a bump.

Z saw her first snow fall, and first drive in it.

Having lived in an area that NEVER snowed and then driving in it my first time tonight.... ya that was quite scary, would prefer to not have to do so again. Z was trying to slide all over the place just accelerating from 0, had no problems stopping or turning... just starting. Past 2 cars spun out on the curb with police blocking it off to prevent more accidents...

Ice is never fun, especially when you have family in the car and the diesel in front of you managed to stop but you keep sliding and end up having to steer yourself into the ditch... = /

Just be careful Jax, the car can be easily repaired, after having the money for it of course, but you can't. Slow acceleration. = )

Trust me, have been, Z is being a pain currently... racing the engine is currently not a good idea since this gets me back and forth to work. I decided tonight for hahas I would pop the clutch in 2nd mid turn and break the rear out, rev'd to 6500rpms and shifted to 3rd, hit 60mph and dropped to 5th and let the engine slow the car. Then I noticed my oil pressure bouncing up and down, sigh...

A rebuild is on my 'to-do' list if I ever get the money, otherwise might just end up buying a used NA engine and swap it out. The current one has 165,000 miles and was abused for a good 150,000 before I got it. These engines can last 300,000+ miles if maintained, unfortunately mine wasnt, and is starting to show signs of age.

Need to quit treating it like a brand new sports car.

However... I met with another 300zx owner today to check his, as he's having engine/car problems with it just dying randomly. He started the engine and I almost cried from the knocking I heard, his engine has some serious issues, more than mine...

Not really, I have a build thread on another forum that is 2+ years old spanning from the day I bought the car originally till today, and I remember every post in it.

Well as an update I took my PCVs off and cleaned them thoroughly with carb cleaner. The Passenger side one had a lot of 'bits' come out of it, but it didnt discolour the carb cleaner barely at all. It also sounded mostly clean when I removed it. The Driver side was another story, it was gummy inside, the piston would barely move when I shook it. Dumped it in the bucket of fresh carb cleaner and it all turned brown, dirty brown and three times as much bits came out of that PCV. Good lord that driver side PCV was a pain to get out and back in, took me like 30 minutes just for that one, took me 5 for the passenger.

Drove the Z around, noticed an almost immediate improvement in oil pressure, at idle it hovered around 40psi, maybe a little lower and sometimes higher, but not within worrying levels. Oil pressure did increase correctly with throttle. I went wide open to 80mph and the oil pressure did pick up, although it never went past 55psi, so I'm about 1/2 quart low.

I still have the missfire/hesitation, I think that will go away once the oil finally burns out of the chambers. I drove to work which is 2.5 miles away and went up to 80mph. When I pulled up and stopped my car the smell was terrible. I drove back home another 2.5 miles away, oil pressure improved again along the way, and when I parked it at home I smelt NO burning oil from the exhaust. So that made me feel a lot better, all from a stupid pressure valve. So I guess next I need to do a complete oil change and stick with conventional for the time being, might go back to synthetic later.

While I was at it I removed my cruise control module and cable, my 90 chassis lacks the hardware for it in the car, so no point in keeping the mechanical stuff.

Found another fuel leak, this time again from under the throttle cable, I had already fixed that line a few weeks back. It is very mild though, car sat for two days and it was there, drove around and it went away. Ya I know bad, but I can't access the clamp facing the driver side, it's tilted too far back the wrong direction.

Found my missfire issue!

Well, once my gas mileage went from around 15mpg to FIVE MILES PER GALLON.... Ya that lead me to think my catalytic converters were clogged/stopped up. Took them off today and my driver side cat honeycomb was busted on the inside, preventing proper airflow. The passenger side was just black black black, needless to say with 170k miles on them... they were due for being replaced anyways.

Will be gutting them tomorrow(aka punching the insides out until hollow) along with taking pics of my freshly cleaned exhaust pipes :3

For the moment I am running the Z with no exhaust pipes, only straight out the header and dear LORD is it LOUD LOL Sounds like a muscle car under 2000rpms, after 2500rpms it sounds like a Subaru Imprezza on caffiene. I had my windows down, which didnt really help matters, and went under the I25 overpass heading to work and my ears, sooooo loooooud >_<
Yaaaaaa pipes go back on tomorrow, will get myself pulled over REEEEAL quick without anything to kill that noise.

Driver side.... driver side material was barely 1/4 of that removed from the passenger side.

Gas mileage has returned, engine temperature has dropped to normal levels, and the missfire issue is gone. Next to fix is my oil leak, which I believe to be my passenger side valve cover gasket, as it's leaking to cylinders 1 and 3 now.

Havnt updated in a while, thought this was worth an update.

Last week I went to the dragstrip and got several passes in, fastest being 16.7@86mph which due to altitude and air density translates to about 15.3@93mph at sea level. I have videos of the runs, but you'll have to pm me for them. Had some pretty bad VTC chatter before running some 107oct VP100 race fuel, then after two runs my VTC chatter disappeared entirely.

Also I got new seats and tires, rear tires are now Bridgestone Potenza RE01-R 225/45W17 140AA

Driver seat has fresh skins and the passenger seat is original but in great condition. My old charcoal ones were busted up.

Ho boy... seats was my last update? Murf...

Shortly after the Z got dyno'd again and was showing dangerously lean numbers, too much air and not enough fuel and had to stop racing the car till that was fixed. So the next month I got this lovely doohicky.

(http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/th_IMG_2450_1600.jpg) (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/IMG_2450_1600.jpg)
Installed this thing and got my AFR down to respectable levels.

After that went to a cruise/meet with the Albuquerque guys to the top of Sandia Crest

Short video from the run up there.

Went to a large community meet the month after, took hundreds of photos. Believe I posted a thread with highlights here...

Video from leaving it. http://www.youtube.com/embed/0yLLlaw7XAw

After that I got ready to move with an alignment and moved.

Unfortunately going through Lubbock Texas we needed to stop and get gas... we passed the first station outside lubbock thinking we could get gas later on, well we stopped at the next station... and missjudged the entrance to the station. It had a 3" dip followed by an 8" incline... my front bumper hit it, compressed and snapped.

Finally got around to painting my rear bumper and skirts.

New brakes
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae55/Jaxinc/My%20Fairlady%20Z32/Zbrakesbeforeafter350zrotors.jpg

Theeeeeeeeen a few weeks ago I hydrolocked my motor going through a huge puddle that I mistook for being a small one... new pavement, after a rain, fun.
So she got torn apart, water purged, oil changed... repeatedly...

New plugs

What first drained out... gross!

Anyway she's parked currently awaiting her 6th oil change after putting 50 miles on the motor, then will repeat the 50 mile intervals until I'm sure the water is all gone.
