Halp! Battery problems.
« on: October 30, 2009, 12:59:57 PM »
I recently started using my laptop again, only to find that the battery sucks.  Not only that, but Windows 7 is telling me to consider replacing it (which makes sense, as once it hits the 50% range, it drops down to like 6 or 7% and tells me to plug it in.)

The only problem is is that I am having problems finding one.....so if anyone could help me find a battery compatible with an Acer Extensa 4420, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :D

Sounds like your battery has developed a 'memory'. I dont know much about it, but i think it because the battery is topped up, without it being fully emptied. The net result is that a battery can, over time, think that the 50% mark is its full mark, so you only have half a battery. Hope that makes sence.
Off the top of my head i think the remedy is to completely drain it, then put it on full charge.
Of course it may just be plain old, and need replacing anyway.

Hope that helps, probably not ::)

I found one for sale for relatively cheap at Neweggmall.com.  I figure I will just buy a new one XD
