We seriously need to get this thing started back up. It was so much fun in the past. I don't care that I never figured them out in time, I was just happy to be thinking! xD
Being a good racer in Halo isn't just about getting the best times. You have to know where your teammates and enemies are, and most of all... how to be crafty! XD -nods-

Oh... and "v.v" = sad face.

Props to Plixity for the first sig, Slayton for the Season XIII trophy sig, and Jane for the banner! Thx guys! ^.^

Your wish is, er, fulfilled!:

The Witness

"Maybe this is my lucky day," the Las Vegas detective said as he gazed down at the strangled corpse. "It certainly wasn't hers." Even from this distance, he could see the welts around the victim's neck. She was lying face down, but the hand marks were clear on her pale skin, the outline of two thumbs pointing down toward her bare shoulders. The unlucky corpse, still in her bright circus outfit, was hidden behind a dumpster, right by the stage entrance to the Big Top Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The detective's luck had been in the form of rain. A rare storm had hit Southern Nevada just the night before, capturing a set of muddy footprints not far from the corpse. They were suspiciously similar to those left by the pointy boots of Howsie Kye, the midget ringmaster and producer.

"It poured heavy last night," Howsie testified. "Starting around two a.m. This morning I came early, to check for leaks. That's when I found the body." Howsie's show, Vegas Variety, was a popular attraction, a permanent circus playing in a tent-shaped theater behind the casino. "We're like a family," he moaned. "Frieda Cummings was our star acrobat. A beautiful, fun-loving woman. Why would anyone kill her?"

Before approaching the body, the officer checked the wet ground again and saw another set of footprints, size 20, at least. "Was Frieda friendly with any of your clowns?"

It didn't take long to track the prints to Smiley Cummings, the head clown and Frieda's sour, dry-eyed husband. "I kept telling her. 'You play with men the way you do and you're asking for trouble.' I guess someone finally took her flirting seriously."

"Was your wife having an affair?" the detective asked bluntly.

Smiley laughed. "Frieda wasn't interested in sex. She only wanted to be wanted. You don't know how many frustrated men learned that the hard way."

Frieda's acrobat partner confirmed her "fun-loving" reputation. "As far as I know, it was all just flirting," Rudolph said kindly. "Frieda was with me last night after the show. We were in the main tent, practicing a new trick. We finished up around one a.m. Then I guess she went home. She and Smiley live just a short walk from here."

But Smiley said she never arrived. "When she didn't come home, I went looking. I walked back in the rain and knocked on the stage door. I must have come within a few feet of her body -- if she was even dead by then."

The detective returned to the stage door, studying the corpse and the two sets of footprints. "It seems pretty clear who did it."

Whodunit?

Howsie Kye
Smiley Cummings
Rudolph
Not Sure

What clue gave you that answer?

I dont really know lol

i say it was rudolph

the thumb markings being visible in a face down position and pointing down to her shoulders seems like it happened during some type of acrobatic maneuver. if it was a normal murder, the thumbs would be either two ways:
- in front, which means the detective cant see them while the body is face-down
- in the back but pointing upwards

also the muddy footprints push me to think it was rudolph: they finished practice at 1 am and it started raining at 2 am. Rudolph couldn't have left any footprints, beacuse he left the corpse there around an hour before the rain, which means no mud and only two sets of footprints (howsie's and smiley's).

Great :P now an easy one, hope more people will post about this one  :keke: and nobody died!!! finally...

Summertime in the southwest is hot.  Often, the days are filled with blazing dry heat in July and August, after the humidity of early summer ends around the Fourth of July holiday.

And so it was on a hot August afternoon when a group of friends met with the intention of going swimming. It had been decided that morning that Tim McNair and his girlfriend, Linda Sheldon, would join their friends at David Kelly’s home before heading to one of their community’s neighborhood pools. As there were six of them, it was determined that at least two cars would be needed to travel the three miles to the pool. It would be a birthday celebration, as Tim’s birthday was the next day.

First, they would have lunch at the Kelly home. David and his girlfriend, Nancy, Larry Roberts and Donna Allen were at the Kelly home when Tim and Linda arrived just after noon. It was already 93 degrees outside and getting hotter.

Tim drove an early 1980s model compact car that was noisy but ran smoothly and offered dependable transportation. When Tim parked in front of the Kelly home, he and Linda could feel the heat of the hot asphalt beneath their feet, even through their thin sandals. As they approached the front door, Mrs. Kelly, David’s mother, greeted them warmly as she invited them into her home.

Smiling, she said, “Hi Linda. Hello Tim. Are you ready for sandwiches and iced tea?”

“You bet!” Tim replied, with enthusiasm.

“Yes ma’am,” offered Linda.

“Glad to have you here,” answered Mrs. Kelly. “You will have to excuse the house being a bit uncomfortable. The air conditioner isn’t working properly.”

The newcomers joined the others at the kitchen table. As they were the last to arrive, they were also the last to finish eating. While Tim wolfed down his peanut butter sandwich and drank his iced tea, Larry and Donna excused themselves to go change into pool clothes. After visiting with Tim and Linda for a few minutes, David and Nancy excused themselves for the same reason.

Linda and Tim spent the next few minutes finishing lunch and visiting with Mrs. Kelly. Mrs. Kelly was a wonderful lady who had a very nice way with young people. As they visited, Tim heard noises coming from outside the kitchen. Though, he didn’t think anything of it, as he knew his friends would be preparing to leave for the pool.

A few minutes later, Tim and Linda left the kitchen for the living room. Donna and Nancy were sitting on the sofa.  You got this sentence correct Donna wore a two-piece bathing suit with a towel wrapped around her and a pair of dirty sneakers. Nancy was dressed in a similar swimsuit and sat next to her with an insulated case of soft drinks by her bare feet. Larry and David were nowhere in sight. Tim asked where they were.

“Getting ready for the pool, I guess,” said Donna.

Tim felt that something was not quite right, but couldn’t put his finger on it. This time, he asked Nancy if she knew where they were. She replied, simply, “I don’t know.”

Just then, David and Larry walked in the front door. Tim was startled, as he assumed they were in the back bedrooms changing. Larry had on a t-shirt and swim trunks.  You got this sentence correct David looked a bit silly -- he was already wearing goggles and walking awkwardly in bulky flippers.

“Tim asked, "Where have you guys been?”

“Outside,” answered David, “I had to rinse off my flippers.” Tim saw they were still damp. Larry offered, “I went outside with him.” Tim noticed Larry wore a brand new white t-shirt and commented on how fresh it looked. “Yes, it’s new. I just took it out of the package when I changed clothes – look, it still has package wrinkles in it.”

Tim still sensed something out of the ordinary. However, he didn’t say anything except, “Well, is everyone ready to go?”

His friends looked at each other sheepishly and answered in unison, “Yes.”

Walking outside, Tim soon realized why he felt as he did, and why his friends were acting so strange.

His car was missing! A light bulb went off in his head when he realized his friends had pulled a birthday trick on him. He was not angry or unduly surprised. After all, he was known for the pranks he pulled on his friends. He expected this playful revenge. Looking at them, he said, calmly, “You stole my car.”

“Yes, but only one of us took it. Can you figure out who it was?” asked David.

Tim laughed, “Well, I know you have a spare key so it would be easy for any of you to drive it away. But – I didn’t hear it start up when I finished lunch. I’m betting one of you pushed it out of sight. It’s a small, lightweight car and I’m sure one of you simply rolled it downhill and around the block.”

“Could be,” said Larry, cryptically.

“So, which one of us moved your car?” asked Nancy.

Donna chimed in, “Figure it out fast. I’m ready to go swimming!”

Tim looked at her and said, “It looks like you are ready for swimming, and I know who moved my car.”

Who is guilty?
David Kelly
Donna Allen
Larry Roberts
Nancy Lee

David was in flippers.
Larry's shirt was, indeed too fresh for having been on him while pushing a car.
Nancy was in bare feet.

...Donna had on sneakers and was coolly dressed!

Hence Donna moved the car.

Reminds me when my friend moved my other friend's car from the school parking lot at lunch.... My other friend didn't realize that a joke was being pulled on him, principal got involved, cops got involved, and my friend got a 3 day "vacation" as he called it from school. It was still funny though. v.v

Heeeeeeyyy theeeeere. Im gonna sneak this in here and see if anyone can get it.

Your weekend hunting trip ends quite suddenly when you stumble across a body lying in a small pile of leaves and blood. After calling it in the police I.D. the body as Brad Mills, a New York City car salesmen. The Detective who arrives assumes that he was killed in a hunting accident. You, however, smell foul play.  You can tell by the autopsy that the bullet entered just below the hip and buried it self in the heart. You say to the detective, "Good sir, I'm afraid this man was murdered" "Really?" the Detective said skeptically "And what made you come to this conclusion." "Well." You respond "He was wearing orange for starters" "Orange?!?!" Shouted the Detective "You say he was murdered because of his fashion choice!!" You chuckle at the Detectives naivety and say "No sir. That was for starters. People don't get shot in the heart by accident."

Looking into his recent records you discover that Mills had rented a cabin with his friend, Wyatt Johnston, not to far from where you found the body. He's brought in for questioning and you sneak in and talk to him first. "Okay! I panicked and ran because I knew you wouldn't believe me! Me and Bradly go out.. went out every year to that same cabin and we were getting good at it, bringing back a nice bear every year. This year we decided to try this new spot down where the salmon jump the stream. I would go up hill and shoot the bear he would stalk. So I'm sitting in my perch on this hill about 40 feet away and I see Brad stalking this bear and he radios me to take the shot. But I didn't take the wind into full account because I'm not used to shooting so far away so it his the near by stream and the bear turns to Brad and charges and before he could react the bear swipes his shotgun out of his hand. So i decide to fire again but when I do the bear stands up and the bullet hit Brad and he toppled down bleeding. I knew he was gonna die... and I would have too if I hadn't have run back to the cabin... So that's it the whole truth..." You grin and look at Wyatt and deliver your verdict..

Which Is......? and why!

Hope this kickstarts my fun little game forum.

My gut feeling is that if a bear was given much time next to a dead body the body would not be easily identified afterwards...

Also what sort of friend is Wyatt? He must have had another shot ready?

Finally, from 40 feet away a bullet hitting the hip of a man presumably standing (since he toppled down only after the shot) would not travel upwards to the heart.

I'm not sure on the relevance of the orange but I think Wyatt's telling a pack of lies. So guilty of murder.
Check out my Short introduction... corner and my "Historical figures who should perhaps be better-known" thread!!
