More Windows Updates for XP????

I have an old laptop with XP that I use from time to time. I know that Microsoft has stopped service to XP computers, but recently I have been getting windows updates for it.  Is this okay, or are these fake?

So long as you're getting them through Microsoft's Windows Update on your computer you're okay.

Every serious computer software provider* will endeavor to continue as long as they're alive to send out fixes for serious/dangerous/egregious problems in/with their software (and even hardware on rare occasion!)

I've even seen updates to MS Security Essentials on systems that aren't even legally activated!  :o

PS: I have my doubts about Adobe, however, which is why I stopped using any of their stuff many years ago....
