I've been playing Tribal Wars on and off since 2006. It is kind of an interesting game. Pretty much it is a time/resource management game. The better you are at using your resources to build your village and your army, the better your chance of winning.
The quicker your village is built, the sooner you will be able to conquer other villages. The more villages you conquer, the more armies you can build.
Right now I'm on World 47. They just opened up World 50.
Back in 2006, I joined World 3.....as Archer665!
It can take a few months to grow big enough to matter, but once you have a couple villages the game gets pretty fun.
FWIW....

Archer

I play a similar game, called Ogame. It sounds pretty much the same as Tribal Wars, except with sapceships instead of armys, planets instead of villages, etc. Pretty fun

ok, played travian when it just came out and only had the .org version, played ogame, ikariam, stargate type and tribal wars.
all in all they were fun, maybe i will do one of them once more again in the future yet not at the moment.
