Xfire Problems: Need help

Ok, so after I downloaded Xfire everytime I opened the main Xfire window or started a new chat w/ someone it would set all my desktop to 8 bit color (which is really bad, obviously), sometimes it would only go 8bit for a few sec. and then switch back but most of the time it would stay until I went to properties, settings, and then changed it, then it would change my main desktop wallpaer and icons back but the xfire window and somethings on my tool bar wouldn't change. And more than not it wouldn't let me chat ingame at all, like, the only way to chat was to minimize my game and then chat which kinda defeats the purpose lol , so...if anyone can help me out on this that'd be GR8 ! thx
