Crazy vent ping, and other odd things

Normally, I have a nice calm vent ping of around 42. But today, it has already went over 5000, which I find odd.

Also, on xfire, Where it tells me what country a server is in, the list looks like this:

#1: Located in the Republic of Korea
#2: Germany
#3: Netherlands Antilles
#4: Netherlands Antilles
#5:  United States (ok, this one seems to be alright)
Scrim: Germany
KOS: Germany
British, Aussie, and CE servers are all in the correct countries.

I have no idea what is going on. I reset my router and modem, but to no avail. And I seem to not be the only one with lag issues. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

As for vent pings jumping recently: Care to say whether you're on wireless??

Sometimes I've seen Aussie servers listed as the United States, obviously US servers listed as no country (despite, in at least one occasion being within the same IP block as another server which was correctly identified).

Yes, I have wireless, but I believe that has nothing to do with it, as there were other people on vent last night with Pings of 4000+ as well. So unless there is currently major sunspot problems, I don't think it would happen to all of us at once.

Also, everything else was running at a decent rate. Steam and Firefox seemed to be unaffected by whatever was causing the vent ping.

If everyone's ping in vent was crazy, then something was afoot that was affecting all/many/several vent users, which might, indeed, even have been sunspots...

Why on earth (  ) would you suspect something wrong with yours then??
