For those of you who are not aware of this incredible tool, check it out! :liljawdrop:
This is a great web site and educational tool to have at your disposal. It instantly calculates so many things; math, science, chemistry, physics, financial data, weather, nutrition, health, history, people, etc.
Be sure to watch the introductory video to see some of the cool information it is capable of showing you.

Here is the link to the actual site after you view the introduction: http://www.wolframalpha.com/.

OMG, that is awesome and VERY helpful!!!
Thank you so much ImaybeU

That sounds like a line, WolframAlpha... Are you flirting with me?
-
:siderofl:! I'm using this all the time!
-
^^! ROFL. Leave it to Jane to ask it the ONE question it cannot give an answer to.

nice tool :)

Well, I got to thinking how that could work. It sounds so awesome!
...so I asked it. :P

Jane, you're so silly...
Honestly though, it's a bit scary... all of that information at your fingertips... Down with Google! Replaced by Wolfram|Alpha!
I bet you that this is what the people over at KGB use when you ask them a question. xD
-
Question: "What is your purpose?"
Input Interpretation: What is your quest?
Response: To do computation for the world.
(although King Arthur's answer in Monty Python's The Holy Grail is, "I seek the Holy Grail")
I knew it! Wolfram Alpha is trying to take over the world!!!!!! Everybody disconnect from the internet now!
-
Started using the actual Mathematica the other day. Fun stuff.
-
I use it a lot already.
It's great for abstract questions, rather than looking up Web info ala Google.
WA also makes good use of "hidden info" - such as your IP address to determine your physical location on the planet - to add local physical context to its "bag of tools" when answering your queries. (E.g. if you ask it "when will the ISS be visible?" it will list that info at the end of its result - FOR YOUR AREA! - without you entering that info! KEWL!)
And oh yeah: IT HAS THE ANSWER TO "what is the air-speed velocity of a coconut-laden swallow? (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=what+is+the+air-speed+velocity+of+a+coconut-laden+swallow)" ! (AND an option for if you meant a European swallow! result (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=what+is+the+air-speed+velocity+of+a+coconut-laden+swallow&a=*DPClash.MiscellaneousE.what+is+the+air!-speed+velocity+of+a+coconut!-laden+swallow-_*AirSpeedVelocityOfAnUnladenEuropeanSwallow-) ) :siderofl:

I've used Mathematica for projects, especially in high school. Very powerful calculator, can do integrals, graphs, 3d graphs, differentials, partials, vectors, etc. Pretty much any mathematical science from addition to differential equations, and probably more. As well as you can input text and use it to make an essay. I love this program.
-
Input interpretation:
estimated average cruising airspeed of a laden swallow
Result:
just slightly less than the estimated average cruising airspeed of an unladen swallow
(asked, but not answered, about a general unladen swallow in the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
LOL! Is there anything it can't answer?!
-
You've got a program made by a bunch of math nerds, of course you'll find stuff like that :P
-
Yep - it still wants to know your middle name (http://www.bfmracing.net/forums/index.php/topic,49261.msg358099.html#msg358099). :zoid:

Let's go first name:
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=origin+of+the+name+Amanda
How interesting! Thanks to the graph, I see now why there aren't many baby Amandas. And if anyone ever calls me Mandana, I'll poke their eyeball, that is not an acceptable nickname. Mandana, ugh. And I thought Mandy and Manda Panda were bad. :P

A panda, Adnama

Stop messing around with Wolfram!

Totally NOT a fail!
It's completely correct! Proof (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Answer_to_the_Ultimate_Question_of_Life,_the_Universe,_and_Everything#Answer_to_the_Ultimate_Question_of_Life.2C_the_Universe_and_Everything_.2842.29)
(You just don't fully understand the question!* :siderofl: )
* Paraphrased from the TV series/book - NOT the stupid movie! - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hitchiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy)....
