Hello Friends,
Hope you all are well.
Recent life, in a nutshell:
1. Work is good. Really. I've been having fun managing many relatively small web dev projects over the past few months. This is quite different from the previous few years. Managing multiple relatively tiny projects with very rapid turn-around, where you go from defining the business need to prototyping and ultimately to deployment in days or weeks is VERY different from the "classic" project management I've done for years. I've been used to managing a single, complex, project that lasts many moons or even a couple years. Getting to delivery in days or weeks is gratifying - yay almost instant gratification!
2. Health is good. Since October, I've lost over 30 pounds. I'm now a normal weight and it feels good. I'd been whining about my growing middle age paunch for years. It's cool to have actually stopped whining and done something about it. I considered ChainDog's approach, but ultimately decided to do a few simple things: 1) stop drinking four or five sugary sodas a day and 2) eat somewhat smaller portions. That's pretty much all it takes. Now next week I'm joining a physical training group run by ex- Navy Seal's. I know it'll be hard core but I'm ready to roll!
3. Started volunteering. Another thing I've talked incessantly about and never got off my butt to put into practice. It's cool teaching basic computer literacy to people.
4. Random diversions: I'm watching firefly, that show which got canceled in its first season. The show is great. I just feel sad knowing there's only a few for me to watch. But then I'll see the movie. Been playing HALO somewhat more lately. It's GREAT to see familiar people playing, and I see see some new names these days. Hello new people; BFM rocks. You'll just need to shave your head, though.
Anyway, wanted to stop by and say yo!
