Hello all, finally decided to come to the forums!

If anyone is able to help me I would certainly appreciate it.
Ever since I quit my old clan, around a month ago, I've had an odd problem playing halo. Any new name that I pick to use, creates a problem. Around every 5-10 minutes (or 1-2 maps on a racing server) I get the message "The game has closed down", when in fact it doesn't, and all the other players are still in the server. This is SO!! annoying. I always end up quitting and leaving my teammates to die. The thing is, is this does not do this when I wear my old clan's tags with my old name. I've tried deleting all profiles (by accident...

) and making a new one, and even that doesn't work. I don't understand what is going on... and why halo seems to obsessed with keeping me using that old old name.

I've tried asking people while in games, but they don't seem to know, cause no one ever answers me

If anyone at all knows what to do, please speak up!

Have you tried to reinstall Halo yet?

re-installing halo is the best option. dont try messing round with any settings.

Also, be sure to remove/rename your OLD saved games* and profile BEFORE you re-install (and AFTER the uninstall of Halo....)

* Delete/rename your Halo folder in My Documents\My Games....

I'd say that when you created your first profile, the main one you use, you have changed some settings within Halo. By making a new profile, all settings are reset to defaults for that profile only. Finding out the differences in the settings between the profiles may provide answers, and try and make your new profile settings the same as your old one.

If all else fails, do what MrMxy has suggested.

Thanks for the help all. I tried the re-installing, and it seemed to work at first, but then a couple days later and it's back to it's old habits!

It doesn't do it nearly as often at least. I tried what you said Hydra by making each profile the same of what it is, but I don't think that work either. I guess I'll just have to live with it, and hope it doesn't happen often

If it "gets worse over time" it's one or more of:

- You need to defrag your drive(s!), or

- You're doing something (else) to your system as time passes, or

- You're just noticing it more as time passes.

(The latter can be construed from the statement that it "got better" when all you did was re-install Halo.)
