Is it an iPhone?

I don't think you can remove the protection, it's there to prevent copyright infringement. (I believe)

I had a similar problem trying to import songs from iTune to a song mixing program. They wouldn't transfer. I don't know if there is anyway around it...

I think you just goto the "Advanced" tab then when you "Convert Selection to AAC" it remove the lock thing.
It's not illegal or anything because it's on iTunes. ;D

Aha!
I had this problem last year when I got a new RAZR and then realized it cant play music!
Ok, so
1) Does your phone have a Mini SD card slot?
2) If you are doing this with a USB cord...stop reading now, cause I have no idea how to do that.
Ok this is a long process.....
3)Put all of the songs you want on a playlist and then burn to disc.
4)Put the disc back in (DO NOT IMPORT TO ITUNES)and put the songs on a mini sd card
There may be a better way to do this other than putting it on disc, but I have not found that way!
As far as I know, this is not illegal, but I may be wrong....

There really isn't anyway to do this. Apple is very strict about their copyright policies. The only way around it is to take a 1/16 inch cable and plug it into the headphone jack and the microphone jack and record it back into the computer. That's the only way I think!

Sorry...

I've heard that burn the seleceted songs onto a disc from itunes and then importing them again will remove the protection. i'm not sure if you should burn/rip them with itunes or not... i have not tried it. but who uses CD's to listen to music anymore anyway? i either buy CD's or download full albums with Bittorent. there's some really good torrents that i know of but i can't post the link here because i'm not sure if it contains inappropiate material or not. Isohunt is a very good torrent and it usually has a good number of seeders. usually the newer and more popular the file is the more quickly it will download. anyway.

if you like an artist just buy their CD. support them. it's hard enough for them to make money anyways...

Yes, it looks like burning a cd is the way to go. but DO NOT try to put them back in the itunes library!
Hope this helps a bit!
