Halo 1.08 Patch for Mac

As of August 8, 2008 a patch has not yet been released for Mac PowerPC or Mac UB that will bring Halo for Mac into sync with the PC update patch.  Destineer Studios, owners of MacSoft the company that created the Mac conversion of Halo, assures me that they are working on a patch but do not yet have a release date. 

As all the servers and players are automatically updated to 1.08, us Mac users are going to be left behind for a while.  The best suggestion I can make is to continue to ping Destineer Studios about the Mac patch, and perhaps the "squeaky wheel will get the grease" -- in other words, the more noise we make about it (in a respectful way!) the more they will recognize the demand and hopefully get the release out quickly. 

I emailed Destineer Studios today, and received this reply: 

At this time, we are working on an update to bring the game back into
sync with the PC version but do not have a scheduled release date.

Thanks for checking Fender.  I might also ping them (I did so recently about the inability to type ~ for my tags ::) ).

If only I had enough HDD space to install Windows.  And a copy of Windows.  And a copy of Halo for Windows.  Hmm, that sounds kind of expensive :P.

Windows is a little pricey, but the game is only 20 bucks, much cheaper then the 50 you have to pay for Macs.

Well, assuming that you're going to "write them" by using a browser to post in a forum or something.... They certainly DO know what OS you're running!  (It's part of the "user environment info" that your browser sends to EVERY SITE YOU VISIT!)

That's how W3C can gather these stats!

 ::)


P.S. Oh, and they get more detailed info than shown there, too. E.g. They even get your OS version info, too....

The update may not be too far of, I hope.  Here's their reply to my query as of this morning.

We're working hard on it, we hope to have it released soon. I was playing with the first build of the update Friday evening and everything looks good so far..

There are 2 BFM servers that will stay "behind" for us mac users.  It looks like they are #2 and #7, however, i am only seeing #2 show up in the server list.  If i input the ip address manually, #7 will show up, which is great! but~~ if its not showing up in the list, then the likelihood of anyone joining is small, and so far, ive only seen it empty when i join :(
anywho,  i am a patient player who will never give up her mac!!!  NEVER!  i have seen the darkness(PC), and its  not worth it :P
mac users UNITE!!  (servers 2 and 7 that is )

Important note regarding latest PC update

The latest 1.0.8 PC Halo update broke cross-platform networking. We are aware of this issue and are actively working on an update. We found a problem with 10.3.9 after installing this update. Working on a fix.. hopefully still today.
