Any other way I can still play Halo?

The CD drive will not work. I pop a CD in, it gives off a few clicks, and nothing happens. Lucky it doesnt damage the CD

Is there a program out there that will let me play Halo only using the CD key (no I am not talking about custom

)

Well.....with the latest update you don't need the CD if you already have it installed & likely didn't lose the CD before you applied the latest?

heres the issue, sorry I didn't mention this before...I don't have it installed, thats what I'm trying to do, I know daemon tools and the cd image, I have both, just need to get it installed

Well.....I meant if you had a friend near that has a Halo CD, but you have to use your key. Other than that, the conversation is getting close to illegal "stuffffffff.......".

Since the 1.08 patch also removed the need to have the CD inserted while playing, the CD Key now has become the sole characteristic that represents a "valid copy" of Halo.

The CD contents are copyrighted, simply because they're "published content," but I'd bet that no one, not even MicroHard, would go after someone that made a copy of someone else's CD - SO LONG AS THAT SOMEONE HAD A VALID, LEGALLY-PROCURED CD KEY.

I mean, they've been shipping out free replacement CDs for 4 years as it is.... (Which they no longer do, BTW.)

So beg/borrow a Halo CD from someone, ANYONE!, and get on with it....

FYI: I would NOT trust a downloadable image from anywhere/anyone, as very few virus scanners can check inside an ISO image.... You get my drift here??

Correct. Just use your CD Key - that is the evidence of your purchase of the game.

Right. If you have YOUR OWN valid, legal, Halo Combat Evolved (PC) CD key, then you have the rights to the contents of ANY Halo CD, yours, or a "borrowed" one.

Ok, thats good, I currently have a CD image mounted in my drive that allowed me to play Custom without an issue. So if someone could copy the contents of their CD and send it to me via xfire (provided it's not a huge amount of files and of course leaving any personal game data out of it) then walk me through how to install or reinstall whatever the case may be, I'll be ok. My xfire is soldier88midget but I'll be gone all day today starting....ooo now

Um, 1) the image file IS huge (628MB),and 2) ... what do you mean you "currently have a CD image mounted in my drive that allowed me to play Custom without an issue"?!?

There is no such thing as a Halo Custom Edition CD! (You use a "normal" Halo CD for CE!)

My guess is that you have a Halo CD image right there, and it's either mislabelled, "hacked" or incorrect in some way.... Unless you simply haven't TRIED IT to install/run Halo!

Ok...this is my issue. I currently have a Halo CD image mounted in my drive using Daemon tools. Because all you need is the Halo CD in your drive or halo installed I can play custom without an issue. This image, however, doesn't allow me to play Halo because I need Halo installed, which I don't...

You know what this is way too complicated for me, knowing me I'll probably screw it up somehow and completely ruin my computer, so I'm just going to wait for another CD drive to become available and just use that one
