What I mean is the variance between the overall average of the scales for the SAT test. I have an SAT practice book which gives a conversion table for the scoring system. So for my reading, I got a raw score of 40. For the general conversion to the 20-80 scale for the multiple choice, this would normally be roughly a range of 64-74. However, the conversion on my scores is a 64, which is a 4 point swing, which is fairly large in this part of the system. Furthermore, for the average conversion for the actual 200-800 score, a raw score of 40 and an essay score of 8 will typically achieve the range of 620-750, which has a mean of 685. However, the range that I was given was 590-670. That is a fairly large change in range. The mean of that range is what I got: 630. I could see having a variance of something like 20 or even 30, but 50-60 seems way too large of a variance to me.
Maybe I'll check my math sections more than two times this time. Then I'll get what I want: 800.
