Guitar Hero, Rock band came after and is just trying to copy 
Like how GH:WT is copying Rock Band now? HMX basically built GH with #2.
The fact is, most arguments I seen seem like it's OK for Neversoft to do it because RB did it to them.
If we want, we can go all the way down to Konami and say they are the originals. The fact is, it's a game genre now, like how FPS's are. There is no "They copied us" at all. Like it or not, music-rythm games are now a genre, and Guitar/Bass are pretty much the foundation of most games. You can say it to nearly any game in the same genre they are copies of each other because of what they are based off of.
To stop a rant in motion, Music-Rythm games are now a genre out of Arcade. HMX were the second people (I think) to jump on it with GH1. There was, even though ignored, Guitar Freaks that came out on the PS1 with multiple copies and types of the game and even in arcade.
No one is copying anyone. It's just a new genre of games.
