hey,
i know what winRAR does.  but winRAR costs money.  does anyone know of any other legal programs that can do the same thing for free?  thanks for any help.

I do have a strange copy of winrar actually (no not a cracked copy) it asks me to register after 40 days, but you can still extract etc. straaange :/ oh well. no point complaining. free version of winrar thinking its trial or something.

Yep, their version that you download gives you a trial. Though you can still use some of the program after thhose days expire. It just reminds you non stop when you open it, lol.

Thanks Hydra! I'd use it myself if I didn't have WinRAR on my computer. I do use 7-Zip on some other comps though, so it's all good.
