dedicated servers not working

i have a little problem with halo, when i try to open a dedicated server from xfire this message pops up


also, i cant see dedicated servers on the halo browser. there is a message on the bottom saying "manual update required from http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/downloads.asp" i went there but i couldn't find anything that solved my problem.

You say this only happens when you join from xfire?

If you join from the game and not from xfire, it will update your game. You only have to do that once, then you should be able to join from xfire.
The thing that says manual update is not true, there is no manual update that you have to get.

If what you say is correct, you definitely need an update for your Halo.  I had the same issue a while back and had to go out & download it manually, then install it, then I was able to see the servers & play again.  But, if it's only with Xfire launching, then I don't know.

Actually, I just had that patch on my computer for a while, since I was reinstalling Halo quite a bit when I was doing modding. Maybe you do need to download that patch...

well the problem is not that xfire isn't launching the game wrong but i just cant see the servers in-game. i'll try the download from mad.

Yes.  Do the download as I mentioned.  That page goes into detail on version mismatches and how some particular versions had to have that patch and others did not. Some were updated automatically, and others, like us, were not & had to take care of it manually.

I had to delete my user profile and re-create it in order for it to read the servers again.  And it was sporadic, it would see some of the dedis but the majority were not listed.  I didn't even realize they were on 1.07 instead of 1.06.
