10¢ Coin collection
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:57:59 PM »
Well three months ago I decided to start collecting 10¢ coins from around my town. What you see below is $51.10 in 10¢ coins!

I collect coins too! Hydra rulz.

I have a bag full with about 15 pounds (6.5 kgs) of coins. A lot of them are "discontinued" coins, replaced by Euros and other new styles, but they're shiny and metal and I had no intention of selling/spending them anyway.

I want all the Euros reallyreallybad! And I'm envious of your 10c collection--AU/NZ coins are expensive and hard to find (cheap) on eBay. Probably because they're current (like the Euros).

I collect "foreign" coins though--I have a really hard time collecting American money. 2c :P

Surely an aus or NZ coin would only cost a little over it's value; and it's not like we have $100 coins.

I have a water cooler bottle that could hold approximately four gallons of water holding my penny collection. It's about 3/4 full and I need a dolly to move it. I keep it in the living room as a conversation piece. I figure I'll leave it to someone in my will that has really ticked me off. At this time the winner of this stack of unrolled pennies is {HM}Forseti.  :toughguy:

Ok, let me figure this out:

0.36ml per penny
3.78 gallons per liter
4 gallons x 3.78 = 15.12 liters or 15,120mls
15,120mls divided by 0.36ml per penny = 42,000 pennies exactly = $420.00US

I accept as long as you do not send it postage due. At 113 pounds (that is taking the average weight of pre and post 1982 pennies) there might not be much left for me to spend. When are you planning on dying?  :P
