Since this is where all the U.K. people I know are, I shall put my humorous quotes that poke fun at your spelling here
There's no 'u' in honor!
If I were British, everyone would get mad at me when I said "good morning."
Why must you defile the spelling of aluminum? The person who originally discovered it decided on aluminum, not to mention that it makes more sense etymologically speaking for it to be aluminum, not aluminium (platina - platinum, alumina - aluminum, lanthana - lanthanum, magnesia - magnesium; there's no 'i' before the 'a'). Grrr.

Whilst you are (largely) right about aluminum, about honour I would say you're probably wrong - the word is of Anglo-French origin, which was spelt with the -our ending. This is seen in other words spelt the same way - like flavour, colour, harbour, and neighbour as spelt in the UK. Furthermore, the reason that large amounts of UK -our endings are spelt -or in the USA is because of an English Rationalisation movement - the same one that changed through to thru and others.

If I were British...

The grammatically correct statement would be 'If I was British'. 'Were' never follows 'I', 'He' or 'She'; it only follows 'You', 'They' and 'We' - you don't (or at least you shouldn't) say 'I were going...' or 'He were being...' as 'were' is the plural form of 'was'. Incidentally, the reason 'you' is followed by 'were' is because you derives from the French vous which is the plural/formal form of tu, the English equivalent of which is thou.

I'm pretty sure "If I were..." is grammatically correct and is the subjunctive case.

Back to vent quotes everybody!  Stay on your toes!
You blame me?  Remember it had to get past 10 other players before I saw the ball.

Me and Marty deciding on quotes that well fit BFM_Lucky's recent big tags:

'The Rcon is strong with this one"
"With great power, comes great responsibility banning"
"You will remember this as the day you almost banned BFM_Lucky"
"You know I said I'd kick you first?... I lied..." (bfm_Noddu has been banned)
"All for Xfire... Xfire for all!!"
"I'm tired of these very naughty guests, in this very naughty server."

Amoungst many others :)

Nod xx
Make way for Noddu. Lest he nods his head... in disapproval.

Oh Marty. It's "neighbor". And I've heard that either "was" or "were" could be used in most cases, "was" is informal and now commonly accepted. "Were" will never be wrong if used. In most cases. Google "were vs was".

Seeing Edison post here, I'm reminded of the day he was telling nerd jokes. :P

I can't remember who all was there. Edison was reading some online comic having to do with computer science and math and... stuff. I didn't get most of them, but I laughed because he was laughing. Half way through, he asks if we want to hear a funny quote. Of course we do!

Edison: I can't remember how it goes and I don't want to mess it up, then it won't be funny.

So we waited 30 minutes while he read more nerd jokes about statistics and... stuff.

Edison: Okay, I know the quote. "Mechanical engineers make good weapons, civil engineers make good targets." Isn't that funny? *chuckles*

JANE: That's what we've been waiting for? It's like the worst joke ever.

Edison: It's not a joke, it's a humorous quote. I think it's funny.

And then he started to explain it.

I can't remember most of it, he just kept reading these jokes and laughing and we would laugh because we didn't get it. You had to be there! :XD:

I was beaten to correcting your correction of me :P

The honor quote is a joke saying like the saying there's no I in team.

And you got some of them Jane. I tried to choose ones that didn't require more specific knowledge DX

I'm hurt :'( Oh, and "good" wasn't in there :P

As I have said, I get delirious when I'm up that late :P
