Due to content issues, I'm going to quote from Wikipedia rather than linking to the page (has accurate citations):

While Call of Duty: World at War was based off of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty 6 will be an entirely new game. It will be set in a futuristic era with all new features that are yet to be determined.

May be sketchy... but I don't care! Treyarch did a very good job with WaW, but I'm glad to see Infinity Ward is back for the new futuristic installment...

Scheduled for a December '09 release.

Of course there were gonna be more! And infinity ward are alot better than treyarch. That's why cod 2 and 4 are the best so far.

Honestly, WWII has become such an over used theme for shooters. Call of Duty really burnt it out. I thought all of the games leading up to four were just trash.I seen 5 is actually good, but thank god it's not WWII anymore, they can only use that for SO long.

CoD Series = Publicapoolza

Never will a CoD game impress me enough for use in the competition community.

Don't trust anything you hear about CoD6 until Infinity Ward publicly speaks about it. Tons of randoms will blog and post about it and make rumors until release day. Then they'll start creating rumors about CoD7. :)

Don't go by what bloggers are saying about CoD6. This far out from release theres no way to tell what it will be. It may be futuristic, or it may be another modern game in a different region of the world. That was talked about for some time at IW.

No one will know for sure until IW publicly announces it.

Release date December 31st? Seems odd. I highly doubt Infinity ward, being knowledgeable on game releases, would release a game after Christmas. Before Christmas would be the key target range, hence all of the other release dates for previous CoD games.

Activision officially confirmed Call of Duty 6, which will be made by Infinity Ward, will be a Modern Warfare sequel game. After huge sales in CoD4: Modern Warfare, a sequel is where Activision felt they needed to go...
