*FIXED* Internet being slow/disconnecting
« on: April 28, 2009, 04:46:30 PM »
for the past 2-3 weeks my internet has been ALOT slower than usual. I've also been getting alot of DC boxes in halo. Nothing in my router has changed and i have refreshed it many times to no avail. It's almost like theres a cap on my internet speed or something that resets my router if its passed. The thing is, its only on this PC. everything else thats connected to the internet (other PC/Xbox) doesn't experience it at all. I think it must be a setting somewhere on this PC but I cannot find it anywhere.

*EDIT*

I can't believe it took me this long to think of this, I simply restarted my modem and router and voila! My internet speed is back! WOOT!

Are you on a wireless network (or using any wireless devices?)

while my router does have wireless on it, this PC, the other PC and the Xbox are running off cables from it. the Wireless is only used by my gameboy at the moment.

At first, i thought else was logged onto my wireless. I checked the connected devices list in my router but only this PC showed up as it was the only one running at that moment.

I take it this problem is not just Halo-related?

Though, for Halo, do this:

omg its geting worse, i had to wait over a minute for all the smilies to load before writing this...

its not halo lag, its a disconnect. i get the D/C box and if i'm on vent, i get kicked out of that as well. it lets me back into vent after about a minute but its very annoying.

Moving the router or your port closer to the each other makes a real differnce. It used to be a long time away and I would have to wait ages for it to load but now it's pretty quick.
