Ooooohhhhhh! I thought
that meant it was in a commercial or something! Not that I would have gotten the song. It's funny how many songs there are that I only know the chorus. Well, not so much funny as noteworthy. And not so much noteworthy as "I didn't want to just type 'ooooooohhhhhh' and leave it at that".
But since I've already spammed and we're waiting for Saes (I refuse to leave the first letter of his "name" uncapitalized) to return, I'll tell a music quote-related story. You don't have to read it.
*****************************************
It was an experiment. I wanted to hear what I sounded like when I sang out loud. I hate when other people do it and I only sing out loud myself when I'm alone in the car with the volume turned up as far as it will go (so I don't have to hear myself). I needed to know how I sounded without hearing myself in real-time in my head. I'm so self-conscious!
I picked a song that I loved and thought I knew all the words to ("Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, it was popular then), put on some headphones and, with the song playing LOUD in my ears, sang into the answering machine for the phone--I had nothing else to record with at the time. I did the whole song. I may have been dancing a bit, it's a fun tune.
When I played it back, I was greatly amused and just as horrified.
First of all, my voice was completely flat. Like a dead robot that is still talking for whatever reason. If you're someone who's heard me talking, I know you'll find that hard to believe, but it's true.
Second, I did NOT know all the words to the song. I barely knew any. That didn't stop me from making noise, though. On the parts that I didn't know, I was "singing" quietly and saying things like "wah wah ruh nuh nuh nuh" and sounded pretty uncertain. When it got to the part I did know, the chorus, I would get embarrassingly loud and enthusiastic. And then back to the quiet "shus nin tasoopa... superstition! Buh buh, nuh nuh, duh duh duh."
And then, as if all that isn't bad enough...
...I still like Ricky Martin.
The End.
Okay Saes, what's your quote!
