Having played both with MW2 first for me, I'd have to say I prefer CoD4 and its gameplay.

I think it really depends. If you enjoy playing the game with one or two friends once in a while, then I think you will enjoy Modern Warfare 2 more. If you usually play by yourself on a regular basis, then I think you will like Call of Duty 4 more. Modern Warfare 2 is easier to learn while Call of Duty 4 is quite competitive.

COD4 - decent SP campaign, was quite good, lots of online multiplayer servers if thats where your interest lies...

MW2 - good SP campaign, can be a bit tougher than COD4 was in spots.... no real servers like COD4, but it has a coop set of spec ops missions that you can do with a friend that are kinda fun, plus CTF options if you want to run your own server, etc. 

Depends if you're after the dedicated server bang for your buck or the campaign and coop stuff etc. is what  you want.

I voted for MW2.

Personally i prefer to play MW2 rather than cod4, the only down side is with the Peer-to-Peer connections and no console with MW2, other than that i think that every aspect has been improved on since cod4 and thus created a better game

If you are getting the game for the Single-Player campaigns then you should buy cod4 first and then get MW2, as MW2 is the next chapter in the COD4 single player.

I just finished the MW2 campaign literally ten minutes ago. And unlike COD4, the ending left me with a meh kinda feeling.  I mean the campaign is fantastic but, It didn't feel quite as fresh as when I played through COD4 for the first time. That, along with the no user created servers in MW2  for PC, I'd say COD4.

Then again.....MW2 lets you use a riot shield!! Man I love that Riot Shield! 

Solution=Get Both

Play COD4 campaign (it's short) then play the MW2 campaign (It's shorter) then get into the COD4 multiplayer (will last you a looong time  )

Either way, you can't lose.....but I will warn you, if you play MW2's campaign before you play COD4's campaign, you won't get the plot twist.

personally i like the maps on cod4 better than mw2 maps but picking your own kill streak award is nice. i would still say cod4
