does Halo PC work on Windows 7?

Hey all,

So I'm running Halo right now on Windows Vista with no problems, and I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 7. I've checked on the Microsoft website and Halo PC is listed as "not compatible" with Windows 7. Does anybody know whether or not this is true? If it's not, is there anything I have to do to get Halo to run on Win 7?

One more question: if I upgrade, does anyone know if I'll lose my saved campaign games and profiles?

first things,

yes it does work i windows 7 as i currently using it, and it runs perfectly.
also with the saved games just go into my computer go onto your (C:) Drive > Program Files > Microsoft Games,
then go into Halo, go into saved games the copy them into a usb stick or a disc.
then you'll be good.

All right! that's great news, and thanks for the quick reply! About the saved games though--what do I do after i've copied them onto a USB or disc?

Copy them here:

C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\My Games\Halo\Saved Games   and \savegames 

And you may need to run Halo in XP compatibility mode.  Right click on Halo shortcut, properties, compatibility and check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select XP Service Pack 2.

I'm running in windows 7 i havent got it in compatibilty mode.
and it still runs fine?

Do you have 32 or 64 bit? 

I'm not sure if I had to run Halo in compatibility mode or not.  But I have other things like xfire, vent, and macros, and I think at least one of those had to run in compatibility mode, and these programs work better together if they're all run similarly, so that's probably why I did it.

Windows 7 is basically what Vista should been. It is pretty much the same a Vista except more stable and reliable. Anything that ran on Vista will definitely run on Windows 7.

That's what everyone's been telling me. One of the reasons I'm looking forward to upgrading is because I'll actually be getting back some games that weren't compatible with Vista. Rome Total War, Combat Flight Sim 3, Command and Conquer Generals--the outlook's looking good!
